Located in the middle of Ha Noi, as the oldest continuously developed area of Vietnam, the Old Quarter has a history that spans 2000 years and represents the eternal soul of the city with its old-styled narrow streets full of antique brick houses seems to nostalgically resist the flow of time while still actively trying to adapt to the dynamic atmosphere of the modern city. Visiting this unique historical vestige comfortably lying around Hoan Kiem Lake, tourists get lost in a totally different world from the rest of the city and have the chance to explore the modest but energetic life of the local a hundred years ago, where there were no high-rise buildings, too much traffic or fancy stores; things will get a little bit smaller, as visitors may have used to those skyscrapers and shopping centers in other parts of the city, but not at all less lively and vigorous

This is one of the cultural addresses that tourists cannot ignore when visiting Hanoi Old Quarter. It is now one of the few houses in Hanoi which are preserved and kept as attractions and exhibitions providing information about the culture and history of Hanoi. Tourists get the chance to see rusty and timeworn items that ancient Hanoians used in everyday life. There are also Vietnamese traditional decoration items and souvenirs sold in the front building for tourists to buy.

Hanoi invites you to discover the Quan De temple, reopened to the public a short time ago after an important restoration.
On this occasion, an exhibition, which will be held until September 30th 2010, explains the exemplary methods used and the different steps of the restoration.
Although it is quite the youngster being only 200 years of age, the site had been gravely damaged by natural causes. However, when it was reopened to the public “90 per cent of the original design was restored”, said Pham Tuan Long, deputy head of the Ha Noi Old Quarter Management Department

At the end of the network of streets that make up the old quarter of Hanoi is The Dong Xuan market, it's a building that houses a diverse market, than though specialized in sales of textiles to the wholesale, also any kind of item is sold to the retail. Dong Xuan market in Hanoi’s Old Quarter was the first market in Hanoi. Its history is closely associated with the trade development of Hanoi. It is not just a market but also a cultural venue that reflects the lifestyle of Hanoians.

Stop At: Long Bien Bridge, Tran Nhat Duat Street, Hanoi Vietnam

Long Bien Bridge (also known as Paul Doumer Bridge) was constructed between 1899 and 1902 and designed by Gustave Eiffel, the father of Eiffel Tower in Paris. Because of the strategic position in connecting Hanoi Capital to the coastal Hai Phong city, Long Bien Bridge had to be severely bombed during the American war of Vietnamese people against invaders. Nowadays, this bridge is still alive and used for trains, mopeds, and pedestrians crossing the romantic Red River. Enduring the grim wars, this bridge has some small holes and the Vietnamese government is making a tremendous attempt to restore its original appearance. The unique architecture with the festive life of locals here makes Long Bien Bridge Hanoi become a symbol of the desire for a peach of Hanoians. A visit to Long Bien bridge definitely marks good impressive in your minds.
