This tour takes you to the main towns of Margarita Island. After a morning departure from your hotel, you'll be driven north to the town of Pampatar, well known for its shopping malls as well as San Carlos Borromeo Fortress, a Spanish fort built between 1662 and 1684 that nowadays serves as museum. You'll also visit to an artisan production center where you can admire the island's pearls and other typical craft work. Next you'll continue through El Valle del Espiritu Santo, the spiritual capital and place of honor for the Virgen del Valle, patron saint of the island. Your excursion then takes you to La Asunción, the capital, and a visit to Santa Rosa Castle, one of the seven forts built during Spanish rule to defend the island against pirate attacks. Enjoy walking around La Asunción’s cathedral, one of Venezuela’s most ancient. Round out your day with a trip to gorgeous Playa El Agua, giving you plenty of time to relax on the beach, You'll also have a chance to explore Fortin de la Galera in Juan Griego.
