Blow Your Own Glass Experience

Glass art is a unique and important part of the South Whidbey community, and our experience allows visitors to create their own special souvenir while learning about the science, history, and process of glass making!

Itinerary

Join us for a personalized, one on one experience as we help you create your own glass art piece to treasure. You'll choose a design and color scheme, then we'll walk you through the steps of creating your unique, hand-blown piece. We will start by talking through safety and layout of the studio. You'll learn some basics, like how to keep the blowpipe turning so the hot glass stays on center, then we'll jump into making your piece! You'll work with a trained artist who will gather some molten glass for you, and then you'll start adding color and shaping the piece. Specific steps vary based on the design you've chosen. Once completed, we'll place your piece in the annealing oven to cool down slowly overnight. This process stabilizes the glass so it doesn't crack or explode! We recommend you wear cotton clothing, as synthetics get hot when near the furnace. You're welcome to pick up your piece the next day, or we're happy to ship it to you for a small fee. While we can only make one piece at a time, we recommend this experience for couples or small groups, because it's pretty fun to have someone there to document and cheer you on!
