America's Airbourne D-day Tour

This tour helps you understand the whole picture of Operation Overlord, from the build up in Southern England in 1943, the deception of Operation Fortitude and Operation Double Cross to the greatest seaborne invasion in history of Operation Neptune.

We follow the footsteps of 101st and 82nd Airborne across to Normandy France where they dropped behind enemy lines and where our story in Normandy France begins.

Day 1 - after visiting the D-day museum in Portsmouth, England, we take the ferry on the afternoon of day 1 to Caen, Normandy France. We stay overnight in Bayeux vicinity.

Day 2 - incorporates numerous locations where battles raged on 6th June 1944, which are listed in the attractions section. Hear vivid stories about action on D-day and the landings on Normandy beaches.

At the end of day 2 we travel on the overnight ferry from Cherbourg back to Portsmouth.

Day 3 - on arriving back in Portsmouth around 07:00, your private chauffeur guide will drop you back to your London location.

Itinerary

Day 1: D-day at Portsmouth - On collection from your London location we travel to Portsmouth

Stop At: Portsmouth Museum, 1 Museum Road, Portsmouth PO1 2LJ England
This D-day museum is Britain's only museum dedicated to covering all aspects of the D-Day Landings in Normandy France on 6th June 1944. The museum tells the story of Operation Neptune, from planning and build up of the day itself using objects, interactive material and perspectives of people who were alive at the time, You will be given a greater understanding of the sacrifice which these people made to make Operation Neptune a success.

Day 2: 82nd and 101st Airborne D-day in Normandy

Stop At: Church of Angoville-Au-Plain, Angoville-Au-Plain, Carentan-les-Marais France
Story of heroism and human sacrifice made at Angoville-Au-Plain church which was an Aid Station during the ferocious battle that raged around it which treated American and German troops.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Manoir de Brecourt, Chemin du Manoir, 50480 Saint-Come-du-Mont, Carentan-les-Marais France
Hear the story of the Battle of Brecourt Manor of Easy Company 506 PIR, 101st Airbourne
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Sainte-Mere-Eglise Church, Rue Eisenhower, Sainte-Mere-Eglise France
Visit Sainte-Mere-Eglise Church and the surrounding area with stories of the battle that raged around the church as the 82nd Airborne dropped directly in this area. Hear also the John Steel story
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: La Fiere Bridge and Iron Mike Monument, 13 Moulin a la Fiere, 50480 Sainte-Mere-Eglise France
Relive the story of the American Paratroopers whose mission was to take the bridge over the canal at La Fiere causeway.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France
Visit the American war graves and cemetery
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Musee Memorial de Bloody Gulch, 1 route de la Chapelle, 50500, Meautis France
Retrace the footsteps of the Battle of Bloody Gulch which is on the outskirts of Carentan in which the American 101st Airborne and the German Airborne Paratroopers fought a horrendous battle.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: D-Day Experience (Dead Man's Corner museum), 2 Village de l Amont, 50500 Saint-Come-du-Mont, Carentan-les-Marais France
Relive the battle of Dead Man's Corner and visit the Museum which has a C47 Aircraft Simulator in which you can experience the flight plan that the 101st and 82nd Airborne did on 6th June 1944.

Stop At: Omaha Beach, Avenue de la Liberation, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France
Visit Omaha Beach and hear the tragic events of the 6th June 1944 when the American V core landed on Omaha Beach on D-day.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Musee du Debarquement Utah Beach, Plage de la Madeleine Utah Beach, 50480 Sainte-Marie-du-Mont France
We visit Sainte-Marie-du-Mont church which was a pivotal obstacle on the morning of 6th June 1944 as its very high church steeple was a German lookout tower towards Utah Beach
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: La Batterie d'Azeville (Azeville gun battery), La rue d'Azeville, 50310 Azeville France
Visit this German Battery which guns were trained on on Utah Beach, were you can visit the bunkers and get a feel for what it was like on the German side of the battle on 6th June 1944.
Duration: 1 hour

Meals included:
• Breakfast: Provided at your overnight accommodation
• Lunch: We supply a large baguette with a filling of your choice, water and some fruit
Accommodation included: Travel back to Portsmouth in a cabin for 2 to 4 people on the overnight Ferry

Day 3: Return to your London location
