Source of The Nile River Safari

The Source of The Nile River Safari takes you to some of the lesser-known Uganda Safari gems while giving you the munchies for a great safari. You'll start this African Safari enjoying savannah game drives in Murchison Falls National Park searching for Wildlife like Hippos, the elephant and African Lions. Then you'll head south to Budongo Forest to meet a family of habituated chimpanzees, you'll stay in a small eco-lodge. Then you'll track the Rhino in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary before driving east to the Source of The Nile in Jinja.

Jinja is the birthplace of the mighty Nile river, where the water spills out of Lake Victoria on its journey to the Mediterranean flowing fast from the get-go. It's estimated no more than 5% of water here will end up in Egypt. Jinja is commonly described as the 'adrenaline capital of East Africa' because of the famous adrenaline games done on the Nile by almost every tourist that comes into the country.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe
On arrival at the airport, you will be met by one of our team members that will guide you most of the time during your trip, then you'll be transferred to your safari Lodge, given a short briefing about the 8 Day Source of The Nile Safari over dinner and left to chill and relax your mind for the journey next day.

Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls Park
We will have an early breakfast so that we start journey to Murchison Falls National park. Drive through Luwero, Nakasongola and branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will track rhino in their habitants after over 30yrs extinction in Uganda. The Rhino sanctuary is an endeavor to re-introduce Rhinos to the wild in Uganda. You will have an opportunity to track the Rhinos on foot with an armed ranger and have some photo sessions. Thereafter proceed to Masindi, Lunch en route and later enter into Murchison falls park, you will visit the incredible Top of the falls and later proceed to your lodge in the evening for the overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls Game Park
After an early breakfast we explore the third day of the Classic Uganda Wildlife Safari which takes us on an African Savanna adventure, we go to the Northern banks of River Nile for a morning game drive. Look out for different bird species, hartebeests, elephants, Cape buffalos, Rothschild’s giraffes, waterbucks, Oribis, bushbucks, bohor reed bucks, hyenas and probably lions. After lunch, a three-hour boat trip along the Nile River gives you the chance to see Murchison Falls from below. Hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the river.

You will disembark from the boat at the bottom of the falls to take a hike to the top of Murchison Falls. Here you’ll have impressive views of the falls at the spot where the Nile is forced through a 23-foot wide gap in the rocks and drops 145 feet over the escarpment. This is a place with a lot of energy in the air as the water mist spews forth and you hear thunderous sounds as the water is forced through the narrow chasm. You will find your guide waiting for you and head back to your lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Budongo Forest Reserve
Visit the top of the Murchison Falls this morning before you drive south to the Budongo Forest Reserve where you will go chimp tracking. Led by your guide, search for these lively primates before staying overnight in an eco-lodge in the heart of the forest.

Overnight: Budongo Eco Lodge.

Day 5: Budongo to Jinja
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to go rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary before you continue on to Jinja where we find the Source of The Nile. Arriving in the afternoon, settle into your luxurious room at Wildwaters Lodge, your base for the next two nights.

Day 6: The Source of The Nile River Cruise
Enjoy a boat trip on the Nile today in the original and refurbished African Queen (made famous in the film of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart). Other excursions you can enjoy whilst here (payable locally) include white water rafting, quad biking, horse riding and a village walk.

Overnight: Wildwaters Lodge

Day 7: Jinja - Entebbe
Depart Jinja and head back to Entebbe via Mabira Forest, Sugar Plantations and beautiful scenery on your way.

Overnight: The Boma

Day 8: Depart
Airport Transfer in time to catch your flight back home
