Mountain Gorilla trek in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda

These two days gorillas trekking will start and end in Kigali which is a closer drive to Uganda Gorillas parks than it is from Kampala. The first day will be for traveling from Musanze to Kisoro via Chyanika border. The second day trek gorillas then return to Kigali the same day after the trekking.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the Virunga Mountains and encompasses three inactive volcanoes, namely Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabinyo. In altitude the national park ranges from 2,227 to 4,127 m (7,306 to 13,540 ft) and is part of the Nile River watershed area. It is contiguous with Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and the southern sector of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The volcanoes’ slopes contain various ecosystems and are biologically diverse, and their peaks provide a striking backdrop to this gorgeous scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Uganda

Stop At: Kisoro District Local Government Office, Kabale-Kisoro Rd, Kisoro, Uganda
Our driver will meet you at your hotel in Kigali, be transferred to Kisoro for overnight. You’ll need an East African visa that you’ll obtain at the Kigali International Airport. On the way, you’ll have spectacular views of the terraces of the Ugandan and Rwandan mountains. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Mountain Gorillas trekking and return to Kigali

Stop At: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro Uganda
Early morning, get up and drive to Mgahinga National Park for gorillas trekking. Trekking gorillas is among the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6hours, but it is worthy the effort. You’ll be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna in the jungle and the lifestyle of the gorillas. Stay with the gorillas 1hour, then go back to Musanze, have lunch then be transferred to Kigali.
