12 Days Uganda Wildlife Tour Safari

This tour is unique in a way that it covers all the major attractions in Uganda and it will give you a very wide range of scenery and wildlife to satisfy all your safari needs. And this tour can also be modified and customized according to your choice on request to resolve all your travel needs. It is also possible to be broken into more secondary and small tours to fit your desired budget.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park.

Stop At: Paraa Masindi, Murchison Falls National Park Uganda
Drive through Luwero town and have a stopover at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary (40$pp to enter the sanctuary) then stop at Kabalega Diners for lunch then to Masindi town. Reach Murchison in the afternoon, hike to the top of the falls, drive to and then cross the Nile to your accommodation.

This sanctuary was established mainly to protect these rhinos from danger and poachers.

Murchison falls is one of the largest parks in Uganda covering over 5000 square kilometers. You will gaze at the Nile River which is the longest river in the world, it’s forced through a small gap which is just 7m wide and it flows 43 meters’ down making it look very beautiful to the viewers.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda
Drive through Luwero town and have a stopover at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This sanctuary was established mainly to protect these rhinos from danger and poachers.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise.

Stop At: Paraa Masindi, Murchison Falls National Park Uganda
Wake up early in the morning for the game drive where you will get a chance to view many species including; the giraffes, lions, elephants, buffaloes, birds and many more. In the afternoon you’ll be taken back to the lodge for lunch. After you’ll go for the boat cruise on the Nile River which will allow you to get close to the water animals like the Hippos and Nile Crocodiles.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale National Park

Pass By: Lake Albert, Ntoroko Uganda
Check out of the park. Drive along Lake Albert to the escarpment where you will have a great view of the Great Rift Valley and after head to Hoima where you will have lunch at Kolping Hotel. Then pass through several local towns until you reach Kyenjojo town then drive 55km to Fort Portal and continue through the tea plantations in the evening to Lodge Bella Vista for the night.

Note that from Murchison Falls to Kyenjojo Town is a dirt road.

Day 4: Kibale National Park (Chimpanzee trekking and Nature Walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary)

Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kasese Uganda
Early morning breakfast. Be at Kanyanchu by 8:00 am to start the chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest. Apart from the chimpanzees you will be able to view other primates like L’Hoests Monkeys, black and White colobus monkeys, red tailed Monkey, grey cheeked Mangabey, pottos, bush babies and many bird species including; the little green bul, yellow spotted nictor, rumped tinker bird, crowed eagle, green breasted pitta, black bee spotted eater as well as the elephants which are the mammals. The chimpanzee trekking will be done by midday. And you'll have your packed lunch.

Stop At: Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, Kamwenge Road, Fort Portal Uganda
After lunch you head to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary where you will see more animals like the blue monkeys, baboons, otters, bush pigs and many more. For bird watchers you will also be able to see many bird species like the green breasted pita and the great blue turaco. If we manage to finish the trekking earlier, we will get a chance to go and see the Mahoma Falls which are situated not far from Kibale National Park. After that head back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 5: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, 410 kilometers from Kampala, Kasese Uganda
Early in the morning have breakfast and head to head out for a 3-hour nature walk in Kasunganyanja where you will be able to see a number of crater lakes in the area.

After that we will set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park which is a 3-hour drive from Lodge Bella Vista. This national park is famous for variety wildlife species and primate species.

On your arrival at the park, check in and prepare to engage in a game drive with in the park, you will spend the afternoon watching many wildlife species including the kobs, elephants, lions, buffaloes and many more, get a chance to visit the baboon cliff which is famous for its beautiful scenery and many good views of the mountains of the moon. You will as well enjoy much Savannah vegetation grassland which occupies most of this park.

Day 6: Game drive and Boat Cruise

Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, 410 kilometers from Kampala, Kasese Uganda
Breakfast early in the morning and head out for a game drive where you will see various animals like elephants, elands, antelopes, buffaloes, lions and many others. After the game drive head back to the lodge and have lunch.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda
In the afternoon you go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel where you will get achance to see various animals like crocodiles, hippos, water bucks, buffaloes, as well as birds like the storks, King fishers and many others.
Duration: 2 hours

Day 7: Maramagambo Forest and Kyambura Gorge Nature Walk

Stop At: Maramagambo Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda
Early in the morning go for a walk through the Maramagambo forest which is the second largest forest in Uganda. It is a habitat to a number of primates and forest dwellers.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Kyambura Game Reserve (Kyambura Gorge), Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda
During the walk you’ll go through the Kyambura Gorge which has a variety of animal species like chimpanzees, bats, birds butterflies and many more. You’ll also go through the volcanic caves which harbor pythons and bats(the pythons prey on the bats).You will also see the blue lake Kimenjaro which got its name from swallowing an elephant.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: ishasha sector, Entrance Gate, Uganda
Later in the afternoon after having lunch we will head out for a game drive to Ishasha where we’ll see the famous tree climbing lions and many other animal species.

Day 8: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Pass By: Virunga Volcanoes, Nyarusiza, Kisoro Uganda
Virunga Mountains are 8 volcanoes along the Northern Border of Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. They are a very great sight as we are going through Kisoro District.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma Kanungu and Kisoro, Kabale Uganda
After an early morning breakfast your guide will pick you up from the lodge and you head the for the briefing. After which you will head out to see the gorillas and other animals like buffalos, elephants, monkeys e.t.c….

Only 1 hour is permitted to you with the gorillas. Trekking takes about 1hour to 8 hours basing on location of these gentle giants. After the trek, in the evening you could go for a guided nature walk or a community visit.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Stop At: Lake Mburo National Park, Mbarara Uganda
Pick up by your guide and transfers you to Lake Mburo National Park, which is among the Ugandas smallest savannah national parks. It was upgraded as a national park in 1983 covering an area of 371 sq km and home to over 332 species of birds, animals like buffaloes, Oribis, Kobs, warthogs, zebras among others. Upon arrival you will check in at the lodge, later head for a guided nature walk through the park. Have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Game drive and an afternoon Boat cruise

Stop At: Lake Mburo National Park, Mbarara Uganda
In the morning have breakfast at your lodge, thereafter set out for a game drive through the park where your eyes will be fed with amazing sights and wildlife such as Impalas, Kobs, antelopes, also different bird species. After, head back to your lodge for lunch with preparation for an unforgettable experience on the boat ride along the lake. Still a lot of animals will be seen like the crocodiles, and hippos among others.

Day 12: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

Stop At: Lake Mburo National Park, Mbarara Uganda
After an early breakfast, have a game drive through the park as you embark on your journey back to Kampala. Have lunch en route with a stopover around the equator to have experiments and take enough photos. Later arrive in Kampala in the evening or a drop off at the Airport in Kampala just in case you have a flight on that day.
