Skokloster Castle is Swedens´ most important monument from the Swedish Age of Greatness when Sweden was one of the most powerful countries in Europe. It was built between 1654-1676 for the noble Swedish statesman and military commander Carl Gustaf Wrangel. It is a world class attraction from the Baroque era with some 50 000 objects in the collections.

Sigtuna is often mentioned as the oldest city in Sweden with a city plan that goes back at least 1 000 years. You will feel the historic atmosphere when we walk along the main street (Stora Gatan). We will among other things see the old Town Hall on the Town Square, medieval church ruins, Saint Mary´s Church from 1247 and some genuine rune stones. We will walk on the waterfront promenade along lake Mälaren and there will be some time to eat lunch and to do some individual shopping and strolling in the old city center.

Pass By: Håtuna kyrka, 197 92 Bro, Sweden

We will drive pass the Håtuna Kyrka that where built in the 14th century. It was in this church that the king Birger was captivated by his brothers Erik and Valdemar in 1306. and if you are very interested we can make a stop.

Stop At: Skokloster Kyrka, 104 Skoklostervagen, Skokloster 746 96 Sweden

We will visit the church that dates back to the late 13th century. It is known for beeing Sweden’s second oldest brick church and it was originally built for Cistercian nuns. In the 17th century it became
the castle church and as a result the entire Wrangel family are buried in the chapel. It is still in use and it is a popular wedding venue.

Stop At: Sigtuna, Sigtuna, Sigtuna Municipality

Sigtuna is a living historical monument with a city plan that has been the same for more 1 000 years. The town was founded by the king Erik Segersäll between the Viking Age and the Middle Ages. Sigtuna´s location on a coastal inlet in lake Mälaren was very strategic.

We will walk along the Main Street (Stora Gatan), and feel the historic atmosphere. Among other things we stop at the old Town Hall at the Town Square, see som medieval church ruins like Saint Lars and Saint Olaf and we will visit Saint Mary´s Church that dates back to 1247. If you like we can make a stop for a traditional Swedish Fika at the famous Tant Bruns Café that is located in a house from the 17th century. We will then see some runestones and walk along the waterfront promenade along lake Mälaren. Sigtuna is a very picturesque and cosy city to visit any time of the year!

Viby Village is situated a couple of km´s outside Sigtuna. It is an old crofther´s homestead that have untouched for more than 200 years. The village is protected by the Swedish Heritage Board and we will make a short stop on our way home from Sigtuna.

Stop At: Skokloster Castle, Next to Lake Mälaren, Skokloster 746 96 Sweden

We will start the tour at Skokloster Castle that was built between 1654-1676 for the noble Swedish military commander Carl Gustaf Wrangel. This world class baroque castle contains amazing collections of items and interiors from the 17th and 18th Centuries. It is one of the mayor monuments from the historic period - the Age of Greatness - when Sweden was one of the most powerful countries in Europe. Skokloster is the biggest castle that an individual person has built in Sweden. The castle have around 50 000 objects in the collections. We will also visit the Abbey Church from the 13th century where the members of the Wrangel family are buried. According plan, the group will attend a guided tour by an authorized guide at 12.00. If the group of any reason can´t attend, everyone will get a personal guidebook for the castle in English.
