Itinerary

Day 1: Airport / Anuradhapura

Stop At: Negombo Fish Market, Negombo Sri Lanka
En route visit the famous Negombo fish market .
Each day, fishermen take their "oruvas" (outrigger canoes) and go out in search of the fish for which Negombo is famous for. They’re a fine sight to watch as they sweep home into the lagoon after a fishing trip.
Fish auctions takes place on the beach and sales at the fish market near the fort. Watch out it can be slippery and a smelly affair, but one that’s well worth forgoing.

Day 2: Anuradhapura / Mihintale / Aukana / Sigiriya

Stop At: Mihintale, Anuradhapura Sri Lanka
After breakfast, commence a sightseeing tour in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, dating back from 4th century BC. It was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhists world over, is surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²). Anuradhapura is a City of archaeological and historical interest including Isurumuniya - the first temple to be built in the island, Sri Maha Bodhi Tree- with an authenticated history of more than 2300 years which has been planted from a sapling from the original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment, Ruwanveliseya - the largest stupa in the island, Jethawanaramaya and Abhayagiriya - which in their original form have been equivalent in size to the Great Pyramids in Giza and have thus been declared as World Heritage Sites , Twin Ponds, Thuparamaya- the first Stupa to be built in Sri Lanka enshrining the left collar bone of the Buddha, the Samadhi Statue - meditating posture etc. thereafter drive to Sigiriya.
En-route visit Mihinthale & Avkana temple.

Day 3: Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa /Habarana / Sigiriya

Stop At: Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress, Sigiriya 21120 Sri Lanka
After breakfast climb the Rock fortress Sigiriya.
Sigiriya (Lion's rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace built during the reign of King KassapaI(AD 477 – 495). Contemporary with the paintings of Ajantha and Ellora Caves in India, highlights being the Frescoes, Mirror Wall and the Lion's Paw, and it is one of the Seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

Stop At: Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka
Leave for Polonnaruwa via Habarana. Commence a sightseeing tour in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. (11th Century AD). Visit the many sites of archaeological and historical interest in the Sacred City including the Grate Statue, Quadrangle, Royal Palace,,GalViharaya, Kumara and Lotus Ponds, Thiwanka Image House and many more. And see the one of the country's biggest water reservoirs, the Parakrama Samudraya, which is compared to an ocean.

Stop At: Minneriya National Park, Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway, 50150 Sri Lanka
This is an optional visit. Those who wish to have some adventure and see elephants in the wild may do so at the Minneriya National Park.

Day 4: Sigiriya / Dambulla / Matale / Kandy

Stop At: Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Kandy - Jaffna Highway, Dambulla 21100 Sri Lanka
After breakfast leave for Kandy via Dambulla, and Matale. First visit the Dambulla cave Temple.It is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. This paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses.

Stop At: Ranweli Spice Garden, No. 99 Kaudupellella, Matale 21000 Sri Lanka
Later, proceed to Kandy. Enroute visit a Spice garden at Matale. Take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day to day life in Sri Lanka.

Stop At: Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show, 7 Sangamitta Mawatha, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Evening relax in the hotel and late evening, witness the Cultural Show by traditional Kandyan Dancers and Drummers including "Fire Walking".

Day 5: Kandy / Peradeniya / Nuwara Eliya

Stop At: Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya Road, Peradeniya 20400 Sri Lanka
After breakfast visits the Royal Botanical gardens in Peradeniya, It is the largest botanical garden on the island. It is renowned for the collection of variety of Orchids, which has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, more than 5000 spices, medicinal plants and palms trees.

Stop At: Ramboda Waterfall, Pussellawa Sri Lanka
En route visit the amazing Ramboda water falls and sip a refreshing cup of the world famous "Ceylon tea" in the nearby restaurant.
Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world.It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It is formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Altitude of the falls is 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Stop At: Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea garden, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
Visit the Damro Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous "Ceylon Tea" and to taste a pure un-blended cup of factory fresh tea.

Stop At: Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
Lake Gregory, sometimes also called Gregory Lake or Gregory Reservoir, is a reservoir in heart of the tea country hill city, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. Lake Gregory was constructed during the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. The lake and the surrounding area make up the Gregory Lake Area

Stop At: Victoria Park of Nuwara Eliya, A5, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
Victoria Park is a public park located in Nuwara Eliya, next to the Nuwara Eliya Post Office in Sri Lanka. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

Stop At: Nuwara Eliya Golf Course, Grand Hotel Road, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Sri Lanka. Established in the late 19th century, it is located in the hill station of Nuwara Eliya. It is an 18-hole golf course.

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya / Ella / Yala

Stop At: Rawana Falls, Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Hwy, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
After breakfast leave for Yala. On the way enjoy the scenery at Ella Gap and also pass by eye-catching views and the Ravana water fall.

In the evening do a half day jeep safari to Yala National park, Yala National Park is the second largest and most visited national park in Sri Lanka. The park covers 979 square kilometers, The park is best known for its variety of its wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan Elephants and aquatic birds.

Day 7: Yala / Galle / Bentota

Stop At: Galle Fort, Church Street, Galle 80000 Sri Lanka
After breakfast, leave for Bentota via Galle. Visit the Galle Fort which was built first by the Portuguese, then modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. Even today, after 400 years of existence, it looks new and polished with reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka, inside the Galle fort which is in a Dutch Colonial building on Church Street is the Cultural Museum.

Day 8: Bentota

Stop At: Bentota Beach, Bentota 80500 Sri Lanka
Bentota is a relaxing place known for its beaches. Enjoy fun activities like swimming, water sports and boating in the area of Bentota and Aluthgama.

Day 9: Bentota / Airport

Stop At: Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project, 13A Galle Road, Kosgoda 80570 Sri Lanka
Here you will find lots of information about Sri Lanka's pioneering sea turtle conservation project - why Sri Lanka (and the village of Kosgoda in particular) is a prime turtle nesting site, why the conservation project is needed and how the project is operated by local people with the help of international volunteers.
Later proceed to Airport for departure flight.
