Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Experience

With Rwanda gorilla trekking Experience, our professional guides will take you for a 2 day visit to see the gorillas in their natural habitat. As you travel to the Volcanoes National Park, take an en-route visit to some of the cultural and historical sites like the genocide memorial site, museums, and local market. You will eventually proceed for the gorilla tracking which is the major activity of the Rwanda gorilla trekking safaris.

Day 1: Kigali Airport to the Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at the Kigali Airport, you will meet and greet our tour guide/driver who will shortly brief you about your Gorilla tour and immediately transfer you to the Volcanoes National Park in the northwest part of this country. If time allows, you will first do the short city tour of Kigali and visit the Kigali Genocide Museum, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocent's lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda's history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide and what it has all meant for the people of Rwanda since then. After the city tour you will proceed to the Volcanoes National Park. The drive from Kigali to the Volcanoes is through beautiful rolling hills, bypassing coffee, tea and banana plantations on a comfortable paved road and is approximately 3 hours from Kigali. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Kigali airport
Wake up for an earlier morning breakfast and get ready to leave your lodge at 6:30 am for the Gorilla Trekking. We head to the park head quarters where we are allocated guides and briefed before heading into the forest. We will trek one of the 10 habituated Gorilla families in Rwanda; only eight people are able to trek each Gorilla Family. Move with a company of experienced ranger guides through the forest while search of the Mountain Gorillas. Time taken while searching for these great apes ranges from 2 to 6 hours depending on the location and the movement of the gorillas as their territory can range up to 40kms. The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. Once a Gorilla group is located you will spend an hour with them as they move, feed, play, and rest. Sitting near the Mountain gorillas is one of the most amazing experience you will ever have. You will need long pants, long sleeve shirt, hiking boots or sports shoes, gaiters and a rain jacket.
