3 Days Combined Safaris To Akagera And Nyungwe National Park

Covering over 1000 square kilomtres, Nyungwe is surely one of the world’s most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforests. It’s believed to be one of Africa’s oldest forests, staying green even through the Ice Age, which explains its diversity.

Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. It's characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles.

Itinerary

Day 1: Akagera National Park Game Drive

Pass By: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast you will go on a game drive in the park, exploring the best of what eastern Rwanda has to offer. You will take some final pictures of the various animals and enjoy the views before exiting the park for lunch. You will then transfer back to Kigali. Your overnight will be at a hotel.

Day 2: Nyungwe Forest National Park

Pass By: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
An early morning breakfast is followed by a drive to Nyungwe forest. On the way visit Nyanza King’s Palace, the National Museum of Butare and Nyanza which was the headquarters of the ancient Rwanda Kingdom before the arrival of the Europeans. The compound has the modern palace constructed by King Mutara in 1934. It is tastefully decorated with the traditional mats and utensils.

Day 3: End of Trip with Chimpanzees Traking

Pass By: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
After breakfast you will enter the Nyungwe forest to track the Nyungwe colobus monkey. A walk into the forest with our knowledgeable guides well versed in botany, ornithology, and interspecies relationships will be a whole new learning experience for you. You will return to the guest house for lunch and Drive back to Kigalil.
