Stop At: Tsarskoye Selo State Museum Preserve, Sadovaya St., 7, Pushkin, St. Petersburg 196601 Russia

Get to know the city which is soaked with history on this private full-day tour. You’re in for a good time as you're going back to 1717 when the history of the Catherine Palace officially began. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby and set for a journey to Pushkin town, founded in 1710 as an imperial country residence. Explore in detail the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Preserve, a monument of urban art, palace and park ensemble of the 18th - early 20th centuries, included in the list of monuments protected by UNESCO.

Take a scenic walk around the Catherine Park that covers an area of 107 hectares and consists of a regular old garden (1717-1720) and the English landscape park (1760-1796) separated by a large pond. The park features a myriad of pavilions and buildings of great architectural and historical value.

Admire the Catherine Palace and the magnificent sculptural decoration of its facades, done in the style of Russian baroque, as well as the entire interior layout and decoration of halls. The ensemble of the palace consists of a main building and two symmetrical wings connected by galleries.

Get inspired with the exteriors and interiors - after all, about 100 kilograms of gold was used to finish the exterior and interior decoration of the palace!

See the Lyons Hall, naturally decorated with lapis lazuli. Of particular note is the room flooring, consisting of 12 of the most valuable types of wood, inlaid with mother of pearl.

Pause and reflect at the eighth wonder of the world – the Amber Room, presented by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I to Peter I in 1717. The unique decor of the room is made of 22 large panels, supplemented with 180 amber planks, decorations in the form of women's heads, shields, tulips, roses and shells.

Sneak a peak into the fabulous Picture Hall! The walls here are decorated with 130 paintings of 17th-18th centuries by famous Western artists.

Check out a four-story wing on the south side which now houses the Memorial Museum-Lyceum, a subsidiary of the Russian Museum of Alexander Pushkin. From the southeast the complex is adjacent to the Cameron Gallery, Agate Rooms, Cold Baths, a Hanging Garden and a Ramp.
