Stop At: Kola Peninsula, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, 184595

The Aurora Borealis appears due to some special events on the Sun which on certain days emits a powerful stream of particles and waves into space. If they penetrate the magnetic field of the Earth, then they cause an unusual glow of gases in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Thanks to scientific forecasts and our specialists, the Polarexperts team saves you money and allows you to fulfill your dream — to see the northern lights in their full glory!

Would you like to make your dream come true and see the Northern Lights? We can help you with that! Aurora Borealis is an incredibly beautiful natural phenomenon of the Far North. However, it does not appear in the sky every night. Besides, the sky is often covered, with clouds and due to other weather conditions, and the bright city illumination makes it difficult to see the shining colors in the sky. These are the reasons why a lot of tourists fail to see the Northern Lights when they come to the Far North of Russia, Finland, Norway, and Iceland. To solve these problems / To minimize such risks, we have created a team of professionals in the Earth sciences, the Polarexperts, and a package of services so that all our clients manage to see this sky miracle to the full extent. The Polarexperts team has its own laboratory, where some specialists analyze scientific data and satellites images from the geophysical and meteorological institutes of Russia, Finland, Norway and the USA and then create forecasts to know exactly where and when it is possible to observe the Northern lights. Based on forecasts, we will arrange a tour for the date and time when the Northern Lights are most likely to appear, and tell our guides where to go by bus to avoid clouds and cities’ bright illumination. We never start a tour and charge a fee if the Aurora is not expected on that day or when it is cloudy throughout the region, because we are aware of this in advance. When we refuse to arrange a tour on a specific day, tourists often get surprised, as they can still receive an offer for a similar tour from less competent companies on that day. To hunt the Northern lights, the Polarexperts use transport that allows us not to depend on the observation place and the weather. It is out great advantage over other tour companies in Finland and Norway who invite tourists to watch the Northern Lights from cottages and therefore they are tied to one place. When you expect to catch the Aurora at a certain place, for example in Teriberka village or Lovozero, and the sky in this area is covered with clouds that night, you lose the chance to see it on that day. Our mobile team can travel the distance from 60 to 300 kilometers outside the city in the right direction to avoid clouds. Thus, the Polarexperts team gives guarantees and works towards the result. Thanks to our experts, we get to the right place at the right time, and our tourists almost always get to see the miracle in the sky! If we are not lucky to see it, we will offer you the same tour on another day for free or refund you 50% of the tour cost. Unlike other tour companies, we do not leave it just to chance and play the game of luck.

HOW IS THE EVENING TOUR ARRANGED?
Step 1. Scientific data analysis First, we receive and summarize the data from different scientific research institutes and geomagnetic stations. Tourists book a tour by phone or they can text us or send a message on WhatsApp. Step 2. Tour confirmation call If the weather conditions are favorable and chances to see the Aurora in the region are very high, we will contact you by phone 2-3 days prior to the tour, and give you a final tour confirmation at 2-3 pm on your tour day. Step 3. Transfer from the hotel to the observation place The tour starts at 8:30 pm. The guide meets you at the hotel, and then we go out of the city by bus, minivan or by car. While you are going, the guide receives the most updated data from the Polarexperts Lab on where exactly to go to avoid clouds and where it is possible to observe the starry sky afterwards. Step 4. Northern Lights observation and photos At the observation site, we will watch how the Northern Lights originate. Tourists take pictures and wait for the Aurora to grow. Treats from the Polarexperts team. Sometimes you have to wait for one hour and more to view the Northern Lights. You can spend this time on a warm bus listening to the guide’s stories and having hot tea with bread-rings. Step 5. Transfer back to the hotel.
