Full Day Cultural Tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Nepal

Kathmandu is known as the city of temples. Indeed, it is the city of temples due to such vast cultural diversification. You can find holy grounds of many religions like Hindu, Muslims, Christians,and Buddhist. Due to such richness of religious, historical and cultural variation, the UNESCO has chosen eight architecturally, culturally and religiously important locations and structures as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal. Among which you can find seven of them in Kathmandu valley.
Knowing the importance of culture, we are introducing you this cultural tour package which takes you to the four important cultural heritage sites inside Kathmandu valley. You will visit Pashupatinath temple complex, Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Pashupatinath Temple, Pashupati Nath Road, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal

After you reach the Pashupatinath temple complex, you will be seeing local people with the mini shops and stalls that sell the materials for worshipping Lord Shiva that inhabits the main temple of Pashupatinath complex. The temple complex is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites that lies in Kathmandu Valley dedicated to the Hindu religion. The large complex of Pashupatinath is situated on both sides of the banks of river Bagmati. Bagmati river is the holiest river in Nepal that meets with the river Ganga (Holy River) of India. You can see many monkeys roaming around. Thecrowd of people hustling around can be found on Mondays and occasions such as Maha Shivaratri and Teej. It is believed that if a person takes his/her last breath in the Pashupatinath area, he/she will be cleansed of all the sins done and be reincarnated as a human again. Also, you can see many Sadhus (Saints) performing their daily rites near temples and river banks. Another cultural site you can observe is the cremation of Hindu people being conducted near the banks of the river Bagmati.

Stop At: Boudhanath Stupa, Boudh Boudha, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal

The next stop is the Stupa of Boudhanath which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the largest stupas in Nepal. Once home to Tibetan refugees, it is influenced by the Tibetan Buddhist culture, thus creating a peaceful and silent environment suitable for meditation. Be enlightened by the incantation of prayers and the aroma of scented incense. On entering the premise of the grand stupa, you will be gaze upon a large dome with big eyes looking far away and you at the same time. Around the base you will find small images of Buddha with prayer wheels. Also, there are many Buddhist monasteries around the premises

Stop At: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal

The area around the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, which was once a residence of royal families of Nepal, is the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Also known as Basantapur Durbar Square, this area was affected by the earthquake of 2015 but is still lively. You can enjoy spectacle of local peoples, vendors and many other tourists around you enjoying themselves as it is a hangout place for all. But speaking culturally, you can see many small temples that were not destroyed including Kumari Ghar where the living goddesses of Nepal resides. Kumari is a tender child that is given the place of the living God and is changed after the child reaches puberty. Also enjoy yourself in the freak street with local vendors and tourist eateries around you.

Stop At: Swayambhunath Temple, Swayamhu Circle Road, Kathmandu 44620 Nepal

Swayambhunath temple is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and your last stop for the day before heading back to your hotels. It is an easy drive from Kathmandu Durbar Square to reach Swayambhunath Stupa. On reaching the base of a hill you can see the gold-plated top of Stupa glittering with eyes carved in it gazing away and far. There are basically two entrances there but you will be taking the entrances with 365 steep steps. On reaching the top, you will be amazed by the large scepter present there and a big white dome surrounded by many statues of gods and prayer wheels. Rest there a bit and enjoy the scenery from there. You will be then exiting from other entrance on the back walking around the hill and reaching towards your ride.
