Itinerary

Day 1: Tangier

Stop At: Medina of Tangier, Tangier Morocco
9 April Square or the Grand Socco (the main square) marks the entry to the medina. This is where Tangier locals come to stroll, play, and sit in the cafes for hours.

The Kasbah, where the sultan once lived, dominates the medina's northern section. The gate opens onto a large courtyard, which leads to the Dar el-Makhzen Palace and the modern-day Kasbah Museum.

Small socco square, the tourists abound, a wonderful square for people-watching over a mint tea.

Stop At: American Legation, 8 Zankat America, Tangier 90000 Morocco
In the southeast corner of the old city is the Old American Legation, the US consulate building and the former American diplomatic post. The museum inside traces of the history of the relationship between the US and Morocco-as Morocco is one of the first countries to recognize American independence, the US established its legation in Tangier in 1821. The interesting exhibits inside include George Washington's famous letter to Moulay Abdullah .

Stop At: Tangier, Tangier, Tangier-Tetouan Region
Tangier's new city is a must for fans of late 19th- and early 20th-century architecture as well as many fine buildings from this time period. Here you'll find the Terrace of the Idle, where you can look at the spectacular ocean view. With the harbor before you, look across the water for the hazy silhouettes of Gibraltar and southern Spain in the distance.

Stop At: Hercules Cave, Cap Spartel, Tangier Morocco
Hercules Cave, Cape Spartel, about 11 kilometers west of Tangier, marks Africa's northwest tip. The promontory projects in the water, marking the boundary of the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean.

Stop At: Musee de la Kasbah, El Casbah Square, Tangier Morocco
The museum brings together an amazing number of exhibits tracing Morocco's tumultuous and complicated history. The Antiquities Collection brings together finds from the country's prime ancient Roman sites such as Lixus and Volubilis and includes a life-size model of a Carthaginian tomb.

Stop At: St. Andrew's Church, Tangier, Morocco
Built in 1905, this Anglican church is one of Tangier's more relaxing spots and is a great place to visit. The still functioning church has a tranquil and rather stark interior, while the small cemetery outside contains interesting tombstones from the early 20th century.

Day 2: Chefchaouen - Fes

Stop At: Chefchaouen Medina, Chefchaouen Morocco
Get lost in this beautiful blue city is one of its biggest tourist attractions. It may not be as varied as Fes, but Chefchaouen boasts a mesmorising traditional souk. After you've explored the blue, maze like streets, think about buying some traditional memories.

Stop At: Place Outa el Hammam & Kasbah, Avenue Hassan II, Chefchaouen 91000 Morocco
Every town and city has its square, and Chefchaouen is no exception. Plaza Uta el-Hammam boasts an atmosphere which is a fusion between Arab and Spanish influences, seen throughout the fantastic food, both street food and restaurants, available throughout. A great central point of the town, it can be great for just relaxing and admiring the majestic mountains which overlook the city, and people watching in the town's center of activity.

Stop At: Ras El Maa Waterfall, East outside of Chefchaouen medina, Chefchaouen Morocco
This is the point at which the fresh mountain water trickles its way into the town, and proves a popular gathering place for locals. An alternative to the remote and large waterfalls of the mountains, these refreshing falls are much better locals gather here to wash their clothes and simply have a friendly water cooler moment.

Stop At: Kasbah Museum, Medina Avenue Hassan II, Chefchaouen 91000 Morocco
In the center of the medina lies the beautiful Andalusian Gardens, which stands as a tranquil green oasis complementing the calming flood of blue which characterizes the town. Within these gardens stands the Ethnographic Museum, known as the Kasbah Museum, which invites visitors to explore its unrivaled collection of artefacts which tell the story of the Chefchaouen region, with everything from pottery to musical instruments.

Day 3: Fes

Stop At: Bou Inania Medersa, Rue Talaa Sghira, Fes 30110 Morocco
The Medersa Bou Inania was built between 1350 and 1357 by the Merenid sultan Bou Inan. One of the few religious buildings in the city that is not-Muslims may enter, the Medersa (madrassah - Islamic school of learning) is a sumptuous architectural gem and one of Morocco's most gorgeous buildings.

Stop At: Al-Attarine Madrasa, Rue Talaa Kebira, Fes Morocco
Another example of fine Merenid architecture, the Medersa el-Attarine was built in 1325 by Abu Said. The courtyard here is a wonderful display of the intricate decoration, with elaborate zellige tile work and cedar wood carvings.

Stop At: Fes el-Bali, Fes 30110 Morocco
Bali is the medina area and the city's oldest neighborhood. It is thought to be the largest intact surviving medina in the world. The main gate in the area is Bab Boujloud. As you approach this great old gate, you get wonderful views of the neighborhood's famed landmark: the minaret of the Bou Inania Medersa, which just sits after the Bab Boujloud gate.

Stop At: La Belle Vue de la Tannerie, 64 Derb Sidi Bouaza, Fes Morocco
The streets just west of Qaraouiyine Mosque have the greatest concentration of shopping opportunities. This is also where you can visit the famous Chouara tanneries of Fes, one of the top things to do in this area. Here, you can watch the traditional dying of animals skins-the first steps in the making Morocco's many leather products.

Stop At: Fez Mellah, Fes Morocco
The atmospheric old Mellah is in Fes el Jedid, just north of the Royal Palace. Throughout this compact district, the lanes are lined with fine (though highly dilapidated) examples of early 20th-century houses, which were once home to the vibrant Jewish community of Fes.

Stop At: Kairaouine Mosque (Mosque of al-Qarawiyyin), Fes el-Bali Qayruwan quarters, Fes 30030 Morocco
Built in AD 857 by Tunisian immigrants from the holy city of Kairouan, the Qaraouiyine Mosque was one of the medieval period's most distinguished universities. Today, in its function as a working mosque, it is one of Morocco's largest centers of worship, with a prayer hall that can hold 20,000. The library is one of the oldest surviving in the world and contains more than 30,000 books. Among the collection is a 9th-century Qur'an.

The Batha Museum is inside a Hispano-Moorish summer palace built in the late 19th century. The museum collection traipses through a selection of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, with wood carved doors, wrought-iron work, embroidery, carpets, and jewelry all on display.
