Enriched Air Diver PADI

This course will teach you how to test your enriched air tanks and how to adjust your computer to the percentage of oxygen in each tank.

An ordinary gas tank uses the same air we breathe every day (21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen and 1% other gases). Enriched air (nitrox) is a mixture that contains more oxygen in the gas (32% oxygen and 68% nitrogen) thus allowing you to stay longer at certain depths.

Any nitrox in which the amount of oxygen is greater than 21% is a mixture of oxygen-enriched air. One of the most popular mixtures is EANx32, which contains 32% oxygen and 68% nitrogen.

The use of nitrox in diving significantly increases the non-decompression limit in diving. For example, the no-decompression limit when using normal air for an 18 meter dive is 56 minutes, but when using nitrox with an oxygen content of 36% oxygen, the limit is 125 minutes.
