We will make a pedestrian route and can see the most important architecturally constructed temple by the Dominicans in Oaxaca. Its baroque style was erected on an ancient pre-Hispanic ceremonial center.

The huge open chapel - the largest in the country - is the hallmark of the temple of San Pedro and San Pablo. In an attempt to reach the indigenous population, the open space of this chapel can be considered an approach to the religious structure of the pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican pyramids. Music also seemed to have an important function in evangelization, since the complex has a choir for singers and another for musicians.

This population was founded in the year 37 d.C. by the Chocholtecs, who gave them the name. Among the most outstanding emperors are King Atonaltzin, the last emperor of the Coixtlahuaca dynasty, who waged battles against the Mexicas on two occasions, being defeated in the first and captured in the second, in the same town of Coixtlahuaca, by the king Moctezuma II, who wanted to extend his domains on the south side.
