Thus a wealth of works has been formed which, alongside the paintings and sculptures of prestigious authors and local artists, includes highly significant decorative art.

The Museum illustrates the Mexican figurative art from the 12th to the 18th century. The collections of paintings and sculptures, art objects and decorative artifacts are ordered according to a chronological criterion and include works by prestigious authors such as Antonello da Messina, Mattia Preti, Caravaggio, Girolamo Alibrandi, Vincenzo Catena, Annibale Carracci, Francesco Laurana and many others. .

Of the precious treasure coming from the Cathedral of Messina, today at the Regional Interdisciplinary Museum, among which the fine branch flowered in gold, enamels, pearls and emeralds of the Messina goldsmith at the end of the seventeenth century18, the only jewels on display are those of the Two crowns of sacred image, work of Sicilian goldsmithery from the beginning of the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. The other jewels, which were placed in a case dedicated to them, are still kept in the deposits in the Museum.
