Ancient Rome

From the Colosseum you go up to the Celio, one of the seven hills on which Rome was founded, a beautiful pedestrian area, often misunderstood by tourists. Continue along the area where the Circus Maximus once stood and from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the Palatine Hill. We cross the Tiber Island, ancient ford of the Tiber, and then the Ghetto, where even today the long history of persecution and pain experienced by the Jewish community of Rome is palpable. Here, in fact, in 1555, at the behest of Pope Paul IV, the Jews of the city were segregated, after having been deprived of all their civil rights, and from here over 1000 of them were captured and deported to Auschwitz at dawn on the 16th October 1943. The race continues through alleys and squares, until reaching Piazza Venezia with its imposing Altare della Patria. From here it runs the last kilometer, free from traffic and accompanied by the magical succession of the Imperial Forums.
