Itinerary

Day 1: AIRPORT / KUALA NAMU - HOTEL IN MEDAN

Stop At: Maimun Palace, Jl. Katamso, Medan Indonesia
Maimoon Palace is royal house for Sultanate of Deli and becomes of tourism sites from Medan, South Sumatra. This grand, 30-room Maimoon Palace was built by the sultan of Deli in 1888 and the architecture features Malay, Mogul and Italian influences. Only the main room, which features the lavish inauguration throne, is open to the public. Here you can check out a modest collection of ceremonial kerises and dress up in traditional Malay costume.

Maimoon Palace is one of the most beautiful palace still exist in Indonesia. The Palace consists of two floors divided each into three parts: the main building, the left wing and the right wing. Each floor has 20 rooms. The total of 40 rooms of this Palace does not include the prison in the basement, kitchen and bathrooms. In front, about 100 meters, stands the Mosque of Al-Maksum known as the Great Mosque of Medan.

Stop At: Medan Grand Mosque, Medan 20218 Indonesia
Great Mosque of Medan or Masjid Raya Al Mashun is located at Jalan Singamangaraja, Medan, North Sumatra. It was built in 1906 – 1909, in the style between the Middle East, Spain, and India; it has octagonal shape and has a wing on the south, east, north and west.. The location is very easy to found for it already popular as one of pilgrimage sites in Medan.

In beginning of its establishment, this mosque merges with palace complex, where Sultan Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alam as a leader of Sultanate of Deli started the development of this mosque.

The first developer of this mosque was designed by the Dutch architect Van Erp who also designed The Maimoon Palace, but then the process was done by JA Tingdeman, for Van Erp at that time was called to Java by the Dutch government to join in the process of restoration of Borobudur temple in Central Java. Most imported building materials such as: marble for decoration imported from Italy, Germany and China and the stained glass from the chandelier directly from France.

The building of this mosque is divided into the main hall, ablution, entrance and tower. The main hall, a place of prayer, the octagonal is not equilateral. The windows that surround the porch door made of wood with precious stained glass, the remnants of the Art Nouveau period 1890-1914, that combined with Islamic art.

Day 2: DAY 02: MEDAN – BUKIT LAWANG (Bukit Lawang Cottages / Rindu Alam Hotel) (B)

Stop At: Bukit Lawang Jungle, Bukit Lawang 20774 Indonesia
After breakfast drive to Bukit Lawang, on the way stop at Rubber and Palm Oil plantation, arrival at Bukit Lawang check in to hotel, afternoon free at own leisure.

Day 3: TREKKING AT LEUSER NATIONAL PARK AND SEE ORANG UTAN

Stop At: Trekking Orangutan Sumatra, JL. ORANGUTAN Bukit Lawang, Bohorok, Bukit Lawang, Kec. Bohorok, Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara 20774, Indonesia
It is the gentle giants of the jungle, the orangutans, which are the main attraction here. Bukit Lawang is one of the best places in the world to meet this rare and endangered primate. See these graceful creatures swing through the forest canopy as they forage for fruit. This is one of the largest stronghold communities of orangutans, with more than 5000 of them living in the here.

Day 4: BUKIT LAWANG - BRASTAGI

Stop At: Brastagi Highland, Medan Indonesia
Brastagi, a tourist town, is another lovely town located in Karo highlands. The town is known for its plantations and various kinds of flowers, vegetables and fruit, most famous which is Marquisa passion fruit. It's 66 km southwest of Medan and is 4.594 feet above sea level. There is a pleasant colonial-style hotel with a golf course. Other new hotels can also be found. From Gundaling Hill a clear view of Mt. Sibayak and Mt. Sinabung volcanoes can be seen.

From this city, the visitors will enjoy charming scenery to the active mountainside, which are Sibayak Mountain and Sinabung Mountain. To climb Sibayak Mountain require at least 3 hours trip and we could enjoy pretty scenery in these mountains or 3 to 4 hours trip in the forest to see the nature wealth inside, for both the flora and the fauna around this forest.

The atmosphere of green nature from the reflection of the trees from the slope of Rangkap Sibayak Mountain (well known as Sibayak mountain).

Day 5: BRASTAGI - LAKE TOBA / SAMOSIR ISLAND

Stop At: Berastagi Fruit Market, Berastagi Indonesia
Fruit market Brastgai is an interetsting place to visit there are many kind of fruits sell here and in many variety of size. From mango, mangosteen, passion fruit, oranges etc with reasonable price. Not only fruit, they are also selling flower see, young coconut and local snacks, fresh vegetables, plants, souvenirs, rabbits, puppies, clothes, etc.

Stop At: Sipiso Piso Waterfall, Jalan Raya Merek, Kabanjahe Indonesia
Sipiso-piso waterfall, is one of the tallest waterfall in Indonesia. The name Sipiso-piso mean ‘like a knife'; it has 120m high and it located in Tonggiang village, 45 Kilometers from Berastagi at the northern end of Lake Toba.

This waterfall is formed by a small underground river of the Karo Plateau and flows out into the Lake Toba caldera. To get to Sipiso-Piso falls catch a local mini-bus from Berastagi to Kabanjahe At the bus terminal in Kabanjahe catch any bus going to Siantar and ask to get off at Sipiso-Piso. From the main road the falls are 2.5km from the main road. There are becak drivers waiting at the turnoff and go to the falls.

Sipiso-Piso Waterfall has beautiful scenery and fascinating sightseeing. Among the cliffs that look greenish, the fall water is looking majestic by its grace. As we stand or sit far from the location, we can enjoy the beauty Sipiso-piso and Lake Toba from a distance at the same time.

Stop At: Indah Simarjarunjung Hill, Jl. Simarjarunjung, Parapat 21163 Indonesia
This is a hill offers beautifull views of Lake Toba which can be seen from a height of the hill. It has many tall trees contributing to the fresh air and atmosphere of the hill.

Day 6: EXCURSION AT SAMOSIR ISLAND

Stop At: King Siallagan's Stone Chair, Jl. Rumah Hoba Huta Siallagan, Kec. Simanindo, Ambarita, Samosir Island 22395 Indonesia
Located at Ambarita, it is an ancient Batak tribal village on Samosir Island, in Lake Toba. It is often called the Ambarita Stone Chair Village due to its historic relics from the pre-Christian era.

Constructed about 300 years ago, the chairs are said to have been used by a king’s council to determine the fate of captured enemies and criminals. If a person was sentenced to death, they would often be slaughtered on a nearby stone table and then cooked up to be eaten by said council.

Stop At: Huta Bolon Simanindo Batak Museum, Jl. Pulau Samosir Simanindo, Samosir Island 22395 Indonesia
Hutabolon Museum. It is a well-known tourist spot in Simanindo Village.

Here, visitors can learn about the heritage of Batak Toba culture including traditional clothing, cookware and other items and apparatus commonly used in the past. Several traditional Batak Toba houses can also be seen at this museum.

You can also enjoy daily performances of ancient dances, including the sigale-gale dance that features a wooden doll as well as the tortor dance. The performance starts at 10.30 a.m. and runs until 11.45 p.m. Visitors will be invited to join the dance at the end of the performance.

Stop At: Tomok Village, Samosir Island 22394 Indonesia
Tomok is a small village at Samosir Island, Lake Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia. It is a one hour walk from Tuk-tuk. There are some beautiful traditional Batak houses to be found at Tomok.

Furthermore, here you can find the grave of former king Sidabutar. Together with all the souvenir stalls, this tomb / sarcophagus is the main attraction of Tomok.

Day 7: SAMOSIR - SIPIROK

Stop At: Sipoholon Hot Spring, Tarutung Indonesia
Sipoholon Hot Springs is located among limestone hills that are dotted in hues of orange, yellow, and green which makes it one of the most unique and beautiful places in Lake Toba!

What to expect:

Vibrant blue-green coloured waters as a result of the sulphuric nature of the surrounding rocks.

These hot springs are dubbed “soda water pools” for supposedly tasting like a carbonated beverage. Although it is quite safe to drink, we don’t recommend you trying it out!

Go for a soak! And if you’re feeling hungry afterwards, taste some local cuisine at any of the North Tapanuli restaurants nearby.

There are also several other interesting places to visit during traveling from Samosir island to Sipirok such as Pineapple plantation, Traditional market at Balige and Sigurgur to see the fantastic view of Lake TOba

Day 8: SIPIROK - BUKITTINGGI

Stop At: Penyabungan, Jl. Trans Sumatera Bukittinggi - Padang Sidempuan No.92, Kp. Padang, Panyabungan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, Sumatera Utara 22976, Indonesia
Leave Sipirok for Bukittinggi by passing rain tropical forest of Rimba Panti and stop will be made to see the attraction of monkey picking up the coconut. Visit pepper, vanilla, cardamon and cinnamon garden, and crossing the equator line at Bonjol, afternoon arrival at Bukittinggi - the charming town of Minangkabau - directly check in to hotel.

Day 9: BUKITTINGGI – MINANGKABAU TOUR

Stop At: Pagaruyung Palace, Pagaruyung, Tanjung Emas, Bukittinggi 27281 Indonesia
After breakfast drive to Batusangkar via Tabek Patah, on the way stop at Rao-Rao to visit Minangkabau traditional village and stop to see traditional coffee milling, arrival at Batusangkar drive to Pagaruyung to visit the duplicate of the Palace of Minangkabau Kingdom, afternoon return to Bukittinggi via Padang Panjang and visit Pandai Sikat village to see Minangkabau traditional hand weaving and wood carving, arrival at Bukittinggi city tour visiting Sianok Canyon (from the panorama point), Fort-De-Kock, Museum and Market. Afternoon return to hotel.

Day 10: COUNTRYSIDE TOUR BY BICYCLE

Stop At: Tarusan Kamang Lake, Agam Indonesia
After breakfast drive to Panampuang village, it will take about 30 minutes driving from your hotel in Bukittinggi, arrival at Panampuang village visiting traditional embroidery and then start the trip with bicycle to explore the villages where you will stop at rice field to see the farmer working on rice field traditionally during planting the rice or harvest time, you may also try and join with the farmer during working at rice field, then continue by bicycle to visit school in the village and keep in touch with local peoples in the village during their daily activities such as making traditional handy craft or snack, you can also stop at coffee shop in the village to try traditional coffee and get in touch with the villagers at coffee shop, since coffee shop is used by the villagers for social contact. Afternoon return to hotel in Bukittinggi.

Day 11: BUKITTINGGI – HARAU VALLEY TOUR (B)

Stop At: Harau Canyon, Outside the city of Payakumbuh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota, Payakumbuh Indonesia
The Harau Valley is sometimes known as the Yosemite of Indonesia. Here, gibbons and macaques and a variety of wildlife still roam freely as this area in the Lima Puluh Kota district has actually been designated a nature conservation, covering some 669 acres. Its beautiful landscape, its peaceful serenity interrupted only by the calls of the macaques and the chirping of birds, make the Harau Valley the perfect holiday getaway.

The steep rock walls here are not only a natural invitation to photographers, but they also attract rock climbers who consider climbing these steep walls a significant challenge. There are 300 spots from where to climb. Looking up, the clear blue sky above is the ultimate finish line as you grab the belay devices, carabiners, and necessary ropes to reach the heights of the Harau Valley. This valley is infrequently visited so that you may have the whole valley all to yourself.

After breakfast drive to Maninjau Lake via 44 hairpin curves fantastic road of “Kelok 44”, on the way visit Koto Gadang village to see traditional Silver work and Embun Pagi to see the view of the Lake, arriving at Maninjau enjoying the nature of Lake Maninjau and the panorama, walking to the village or to the beach, Afternoon return to Bukittinggi .
