Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala.This lovely seaside city is flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. Its proximity to the equator, the sea and the mountains provide a rich experience of a moderate equatorial climate.

 Kochi is the arguably the ideal starting point for exploring the unfathomable diversity and beauty of Kerala, rated in the top three tourist destinations by the World Travel & Tourism Council and featured in National Geographic Traveler's '50 greatest places of a lifetime'.

You will be picked up from your booked Hotel at 9:30 am by a professional licensed driver on a comfortable vehicle and your guide will join you at your first sightseeing place.

 

Proceed for a full day city sightseeing tour of Kochi. The major tourist attraction you will visit today  starting from Mattancherry Palace / Dutch Palace, here your can see and meet with your local guide by 10:00 am.  Mattancherry Palace / Dutch Palace was built by the Portuguese and presented to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. The palace is famous for its stunning murals portraying scenes from Hindu tales, such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Next you can proceed to Jewish Synagogue, a central location for the spice trade and inhale the aroma of ginger, cardamom, turmeric, and cloves and  you can also do some shopping for spices, handicrafts, and antiques etc . Now you can proceed Next you will visit Santa Cruz Basilica, one the largest and most impressive churches in India. The church has two soaring spires and a bright, white-washed exterior. Inside, you will find walls decorated with frescoes, murals, and large paintings depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.  Now you can stroll down to St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. The church was constructed in 1503 by Portuguese friars and is now the burial place of Vasco da Gama, a Portuguese explorer who led the first ships that sailed directly from Europe to India.  Next you can proceed towards Chinese Fishing Nets that were introduced by traders from the court of Kublai Khan in the 14th century. Kochi fishermen still use the fishing nets to earn their livelihoods.

Now its time for Lunch (at your own cost) and you can do shopping in nearby market to take Kochi specialities , culture to you place. Its time to say bye to you guide with happiness because by 3:30 pm you will be reaching  Marine Drive in Kochi,  which is a popular hangout and this scenic stretch offers a spectacular view of the backwaters and the Kochi Harbour. You can spend your time here till 6:00 pm and you wil proceed for a Sunset Cruise Ride  for 01 Hour Duration (at own cost) or Kadhakali & Kalaripayattu  (martial art - at own cost). Its time to end the tour with sweet memories of the day. Later by 7:30 pm you will be dropped at your booked hotel.
