Kareri Lake Trek

One of the best trekking destinations, Kareri Lake is a shallow fresh water lake, situated at an altitude of 9,626 ft (2,934 m) in the Dhauladhar range of Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh. The lake’s source is the snow that melts from the Dhauladhar range which also leads to the formation of a stream – Nyund. The lake is beautiful as being filled with fresh water and being shallow, you can even see the bed of the lake which makes for a breath-taking sight! The trek to Kareri Lake takes you through forests of chir and chilgoza pines and other sub-tropical pines. One can also find a wide variety of species of birds around here which makes it a perfect trekking trail for bird-watchers. The picturesque glacial lake is very close to the snow line, which follows after a rocky grassland and lush pine forests. Kareri Lake trek is laden with various campsites that follow along the trail and have convenient options for food. Hence, this trek is one of the best for beginners as well.
