Day 2: Delhi Sightseeing

The Masjid-i Jahān-Numā, commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656 at a cost of 1 million rupees, and was inaugurated by an Imam from Bukhara, present-day Uzbekistan.

Located in the eastern part of Dehli, Humayun’s tomb is one of the best preserved Mughal monuments. This spellbinding mausoleum is the first example of Mughal architecture in India.

The Qutub Minar, also spelled as Qutab Minar, is a minaret that forms part of the Qutb complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, India. Qutb Minar is a 73-metre tall tapering tower of five storeys, with a 14.3 metres base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres at the top of the peak

Stop At: India Gate, Rajpath Near Connaught Place New Delhi, New Delhi 110001 India
The gate holds inscription of 13,300 names of Indian soldiers, service men and UK officials. Later in 1971, a small structure made of black marble with a reversed rifle holding a war helmet on top was built under the arch. This structure is called Amar Jawan Jyoti. The gate is 42 meter tall standing on a basement made of Bharatpur red stone. A shallow dome is open on the top of the wall, whichwas used to light the gate with burning oil.

A few meters away from the gate, you can find a canopy, which was built, similar to the pavilion of Mahabalipuram. This canopy stands as a memory to King George V who ruled India in the past. A marble statue of the king in his royal robes and wearing the Imperial crown was inaugurated in the canopy and it was removed later

Day 3: Delhi to Jaipur

Day 4: Jaipur sightseeing and drive to Agra en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri

Stop At: Amber Fort Palace, Jaipur 302021 India
In 16th century, a fort was built by a trusted general of Akbar, Maan Singh. Later, Maan started to rule the area surrounding the fort which was called as the Amer state. The fort is now called as the Amer fort and the city is called as Jaipur. Amer fort or Amber fort is located a little away from the main city of Jaipur. It is an important tourist destination in this city.

Stop At: Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind, Hawa Mahal Tripolia Bazaar Road Badi Choupad, J.D.A. Market, Pink City, Jaipur 302002 India
Hawa Mahal was built in the year 1799 for the woman of the royal palace. In medieval India a ‘pardah’ system was followed where the royal woman followed seclusion. In order for royal woman to be connected to the outside would the Hawa Mahal was built. The queens and princesses could look at the various processions and events through the many windows of the Hawa Mahal.

Sawai Pratap Singh was a devotee of Lord Krishna, a Hindu God. He asked Lal Chand Usta, the chief architect to design the building to honour the Lord in some way. Therefore the Mahal is structured in the shape of Lord Krishna’s crown.

Stop At: Fatehpur Sikri India
Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its center. Buland Darwaza gate is the entrance to Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has a carved central pillar. Jodha Bais Palace is a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles, next to the 5-story Panch Mahal that overlooks the site.

Day 5: Agra to Varanasi by train
