Stop by the fisherman village Grindavík on the way towards the natural phenomena that is the Blue Lagoon. Stop At: Geothermal area krysuvik, Reykjavik Capital Area Harnarfjordur, Reykjavik 220 Iceland

Krísuvík, also known as Krysuvik is situated on the Reykjanes peninsula. Krysuvik consists of several geothermal fields, such as Seltún. Here you can find mud pots and hot springs that have formed throughout the years with the soil colored in bright yellow, red and green hues.

Stop At: Seltún Geothermal Area, Iceland

Seltún is a hot spot in the geothermal area Krysuvik. A boardwalk can be found leading through the area where you can experience boiling mud pots and fumaroles creating other worldly visuals that's certainly a sight to behold!

Stop At: Kleifarvatn Lake, Road 42 Iceland

Kleifarvatn is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The lake currently spans some 8 km2 and reaches a depth of 97 meters. This makes Kleifarvatn the seventh deepest lake in Iceland. After a powerful earthquake in the year 2000 the lake has reduced in size of about 20% since then.

On the southern part of the Reykjanes Peninsula you can find the charming fisherman village Grindavík. Grindavík is located between the Keflavik International Airport and the Reykjavík metropolitan area.

The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is one of the most popular attractions in Iceland. The warm waters are rich of silica minerals and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help people suffering from skin diseases. The water temperature in the bathing area of the lagoon averages 37-39 °C. The lagoon is fed by the water output from Svartsengi, a nearby geothermal power plant. The water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal bathing. The spa is located in a lava field near Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwestern Iceland.
