Northern Lights in Iceland - 5 Nights - 6 Days. Coach tours

The Northern Lights tour in Iceland takes you to see a spectacular natural phenomenon which happens during the winter months from late August to April.

This tour is ideal for nature lovers of all kinds. We take you along Vík.

Among the stops on this tour are at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljandsá river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. We will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. Additionally, we will stop by Sólheimajökull and walk up to a small lake which has formed in formed of the retreating glacier.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: Keflavik Airport to Reykjavik City Hotel Accommodation & Northern Lights

Stop At: Keflavík International Airport, Keflavíkurflugvöllur, 235 Keflavík, Iceland
Welcome to Iceland
Individual transfer by Coach from Keflavik Airport to a bus stop near your accommodation in Reykjavík where you spend the night. We provide you with ideas how to explore Iceland’s capital on your own.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Aurora Reykjavik, Grandagardur 2 aurora Reykjavik, Reykjavik 101 Iceland
Later in the night proceed for Northern Lights hunting. The Northern Lights tour in Iceland takes you to see a spectacular natural phenomenon which happens during the winter months.

If you don't see any lights on the tour you can re-book again for free.
The tour is scheduled daily, however, we do cancel the tour if the forecast for the weather- and the aurora is not promising enough when we cancel, passengers who are booked can change their booking to another date.

Day 2: Day 2: Reykjavik City Tour

Pass By: Reykjavik City Hall, Tjarnargata, Reykjavik 101 Iceland
On this tour, you will get the highlights of the history and culture of Reykjavík, Iceland’s beautiful capital. This three-hour long tour takes you to the most important places of Reykjavík. Visit: Höfði | Sólfarið | Harpa | Höfnin | Hallgrímskirkja | Bessastaðir | Hafnarfjörður.

Day 3: Day 3: Golden Circle: This tour takes you on a day trip to see the Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park.

Stop At: Geysir, Haukadalur Iceland
The Geysir geothermal area boasts spouting springs, including Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland.

Stop At: Gullfoss, White River, Blaskogabyggd 801 Iceland
At Gullfoss you are given the opportunity to stand next to the amazing waterfall, watching enormous quantities of water tumble violently into a deep, meandering gorge.

Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland
You will spend your time encountering a cross-section of Iceland's natural wonders and geological phenomena at Thingvellir National Park, an area of historical and geological significance.

Day 4: Day 4: South Iceland

Stop At: Lava Centre, Austurvegi 12-14, Hvolsvollur 860 Iceland
We start our tour from Reykjavik and head to the Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur. It is approximately an hour and half ride. We will stop at Lava Centre for a short break and you are able to grab light snacks and use the facilities. The Lava Centre is dedicated to Iceland's riveting volcanic activity and it's frequent earthquakes.

Stop At: Skogafoss, Skogar Iceland
Skógafoss is an iconic Icelandic waterfall, it is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail over into Þórsmörk. The waterfall was also used in filming Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Vik, Vik, South Region
Vík is a charming village surrounded by high beautiful bird cliffs. Population: 300
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Reynisfjara Beach, Route 215, Vik Iceland
We will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. It is one of the most spectacular beaches in Iceland but can be dangerous, and we kindly ask our guest not to go too close to the ocean and go by guidelines.

Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks just off the coast of Reynisfjara

Stop At: Solheimajokull Glacier, Vik Iceland

Day 5: Day 5: Blue Lagoon

Stop At: Blue Lagoon, Nordurljosavegur 9, Grindavik 240 Iceland
Soak up in the warm and comfortable Blue Lagoon, one of the wonders of the world, during your visit in Iceland. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions, and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of one´s visit to Iceland. The Blue Lagoon offers a lava and moss filled scenery, state of the art facilities, a unique atmosphere and silica masks that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return again and again. After having enjoyed all that the Blue Lagoon has to offer, you return to Reykjavík.
