Christmas season is the best way to celebrate the holiday season and, Budapest has one of the most beautiful celebration of Christmas in Europe. We will spend the time experiencing the magic of Budapest’s Christmas streets and markets, while also learning about the Hungarian way of celebrating this time of the year. In our small group, you can enjoy a high level of interactivity and you are free to ask your guide anytime. In the middle of the tour, you are our guest for some mulled wine. Feel yourself welcome to join to the Hungarian holy celebration.

In this 3-hour special tour, we are going to be in the most beautiful and Christmasy areas of Budapest. This is a special winter edition tour so do not miss it!

Stop At: Szechenyi Chain Bridge, Szechenyi Lanchid, Budapest 1013 Hungary

"Lánchíd" the world-famous Hungarian bridge, named after its major investor.

It was the first permanent bridge between Buda and Pest.

At Christmas time it feels even more magical to cross the sparkling Chain bridge.

Stop At: Shoes on the Danube, Between Szechenyi ter and Kossuth ter, Budapest 1054 Hungary

"Cipők a Duna-parton" is a memorial statue, representing the victims who had to take their shoes off before execution, leaving them behind on the riverbank during the World War II.

Stop At: Hungarian Parliament Building, Kossuth Ter 1-3, Budapest 1055 Hungary

The square in front of the famously marvellous Hungarian Parliament (second largest parliament building in Europe), helds a royal celebration at Christmas time with large Chrismas tree,

manger of Bethlehem.

Stop At: Monument to Imre Nagy/Remembrance Day (Oct. 23), Vertanuk Tere across from Parliament/Kossuth Ter, Budapest 1137 Hungary

The bridge-based statue of Imre Nagy, the leader of Hungary’s 1956 Revolution against Soviet oppression, is an interesting statue to see in the Parliament area.

Pass By: Szabadsag Square, Szabadsag ter, Budapest 1054 Hungary

"Szabadság tér" is another square nearby Parliament through Kossuth square. Centered by a huge park, around you see the Hungarian Television, the Embassy of the United States.

The square tells a lot of contradictonal story about the past occupation and system change with its monument of the Soviet Forces that liberated Hungary in the World War II.

Stop At: St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), Szent Istvan ter 1. Pest, Budapest 1051 Hungary

"Szent István Bazilika" is the biggest church and the highest building of Budapest. The Catholic church was named after the first Christian king of Hungary, St. Stephen, whose body was buried there. His right hand, the Holy Dexter, is still preserved, and can be seen. The neo-classicist church also gives place for music concerts.

At Christmas time the spacious square by the glorious Basilica hosts the Advent fair on a high-level. It’s Christmas market is centred by a small ice-skating rink open to children, while the biggest attraction is a 3D light show projected onto the Basilica façade every hour after sunset. Prime Hungarian-made gifts, hot drinks and street-food treats are sold from ornate wooden stalls.

Stop At: Hungarian State Opera House (Magyar Allami Operahaz), Andrassy ut 22, Budapest 1061 Hungary

The Hungarian State Opera House (Hungarian: Magyar Állami Operaház) is a neo-Renaissance opera house located in central Budapest, on Andrássy út. Originally known as the Hungarian Royal Opera House.

Historical Andrássy Avenue, our UNESCO World Heritage boulevard is a magic during Christmas! Its alley is lightened up all the way from St. Stephen's Basilica, Deák Ferenc Square area to the famous Heroes’ Square and Városliget area. The “Street of Fashion” this time is also filled with Christmas markets.

Pass By: Elizabeth Square, Erzsebet ter near Deák Ferenc tér, Budapest 1051 Hungary

The park in the heart of the city, next to Deák square it is one of the hub of young people to hang out, but at Christmas time it smells like Christmas ;)

Stop At: Vorosmarty Square (Vorosmarty ter), Vorosmarty ter, Budapest Hungary

"Vörösmarty tér" the stylish and spacious pedestrian square, is the end of Váci Street with the same commercial functions. Famous Hungarian confectioneries are taking place there as Gerbeaud House or Szamos Gourmet House. The millenium underground (Metro 1) ending there.

In December its grandious Christmas Fair opens, offering local handicrafts, traditional trinkets and some of the most typical Hungarian dishes – stews, lángos and grilled sausages.
