Rhodes Private Full-Day Tour

Private full day tour with English-speaking driver and air-conditioned vehicle. Your tour includes the highlights of Rhodes New and Medieval Town, Lindos Acropolis, Butterfly Valley (during summer period mid June until mid September), and Filerimos.

Your private tour starts in the Old Town. You'll walk up through the street of the Knights of St.John of Jerusalem, passing the impressively restored Palace of the Grand Masters, the most imposing building of medieval Rhodes. It was originally built in the 14th Century, but demolished by an explosion in 1856. It was restored in 1939, during the Italian occupation. You will continue to the entrance of the old harbor where the famous Colossus of Rhodes once stood, and then past the many hotel complexes as you drive up to the Acropolis of Rhodes. From that point you will enjoy an excellent panoramic view. Then you'll visit the Temple of Apollo, the Greek Stadium and the Greek amphitheater.

Your tour continues to Lindos along the 35-miles of east coast, passing beautiful small villages with many gnarled olive trees. As you approach, Lindos you will first notice the impressive Acropolis with the village situated (like a picture postcard) below. This is a magnificent sight. Traveling south of Lindos, to St. Paul’s Bay which also has a fantastic view. Then you'll drive to the main square of Lindos, so you can visit the village and climb up to the Acropolis. To reach Lindos Acropolis, you will be required to climb or ride on a donkey 292 steps. If you wish, you can then stop for lunch or even swimming on the sandy beach of Lindos.

On the way back, you drive through the island, from the East to the West coast. The road passes through villages and densely wooded areas, where you'll come to the Valley of the Butterflies. This site is beautiful, but especially from June to September when thousands of multi-colored butterflies appear. You can have a look for 10-15 minutes, but if you want to pass through the “Valley of the Butterflies” it takes approximately 30 minutes to walk.
Continuing on to the west coast, and after driving upwards for 3 miles, you reach the top of Filerimos Mountain which has a marvelous panoramic view. The tour comes to the ruins of the acropolis of the ancient lalussos, and here you'll have one of the best panoramic views of Ixia, one of the biggest tourist resorts in Rhodes.

Upon returning to Rhodes Town, you may choose to be dropped off to your hotel, or your cruise ship, or near the city gates of the Old Town for independent browsing.
