Tango is a classic French péniche (cargo barge), beautifully restored and converted into a floating hotel.

Enjoy a week of navigating the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers while relaxing aboard the only luxury hotel barge cruising this region of France. Dine on sumptuous meals prepared by Tango’s onboard chef, accompanied by the legendary wines of Bordeaux. Tour-guided excursions to prestigious wineries, open-air markets and the immersive museum, La Cité du Vin. We take the stress out of making your way from chateau to chateau as you wine taste your way through the charming Bordeaux countryside. Amenities aboard Tango include four climate-controlled cabins, each with en-suite bath, a comfortably furnished salon with fully stocked bar and dining area, a canopied deck for al fresco dining, and sun deck with spa tub, perfect for relaxing among the bubbles while gazing at the stars on summer nights. There are touring bicycles and an air conditioned mini-van for guided excursions ashore.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bordeaux - Welcome Aboard Tango

Stop At: 2 Quai des Queyries, 33100 Bordeaux, France
Passengers are welcomed aboard hotel barge Tango with a celebratory Champagne toast and festive dinner served on the canopied dining deck, overlooking the beautiful Bordeaux waterfront.
Duration: 8 hours

• Dinner: Tango's onboard chef prepares a feast with market-fresh produce, meats and seafood from the Bordeaux region.

Day 2: Visit La Cite du Vin, Bordeaux France, Cruise the Gironde Estuary

Stop At: La Cite du Vin, 134 quai de Bacalan Esplanade de Pontac, 33300, Bordeaux France
Set off for a scenic cruise to the Cité du Vin where immersive, sensory exhibits housed in a space-age architectural complex will triple your understanding of this region's fabled wines. Celebrate your new expertise with a dégustation in the elegant Belvedere room on the 8th floor which offers a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding landscape. Head back to the barge for lunch, and sit back and admire the scenery as we cruise along the sparkling waters of the Gironde Estuary. Dinner onboard the barge.

Day 3: Touring the Médoc

This is the land of the wonderous wines created in the mythic terrains of Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Margaux. Your guide will lead you through these renowned vineyards, extensively classified and reclassified by oenophiles

Day 4: A UNESCO-listed Citadelle in Blaye

Stop At: Citadelle de Blaye, Rive Droite de l'estuaire de la Gironde, Presque 50 kms de Bordeaux, 33390, Blaye France
The Marquis de Vauban designed the Citadelle de Blaye for Louis XIV in the 1639. You'll have a guided tour of the site, followed by a visit to a lively street market. After lunch on the Tango, cruise to the delightful village of Branne.

You can stroll or cycle through the town before aperitifs and dinner on the barge.

Day 5: Excursion to Saint-Emilion and cruise to the fairy-tale village of Bourg

Our air-conditioned minivan will whisk you past alluring chateaux to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion where wine-grapes have been cultivated since the Gallo-Roman era. Visit the 14th century Cloisters of the Collegiate Church and the shops before repairing to a noteworthy hillside domain for a tour of their wine-making facilities and a tasting.

Day 6: Cruise Bourg to Bordeaux

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before a guided walking tour of Bourg that will include the Gallo-Roman fountain, historic façades, the castle, antique shops, and a museum of horse-drawn carriages. After lunch on board, the Tango will cruise toward Bordeaux.
