This cheaper alternative to our popular Egypt by Air tour features the same activities, but you’ll do some traveling via sleeper train instead of taking domestic flights. You’ll visit the Great Pyramids and witness the astounding beauty of the last remaining of the original seven wonders of the ancient world. After exploring the majesty of Cairo’s past and present, you’ll board a sleeper train headed southward to Aswan. A luxury cruise ship awaits you, and you’ll witness the monuments and natural beauty of southern Egypt in style. Spend three days sailing and sightseeing between Aswan and Luxor before heading back to Cairo via train.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo - Welcome to the Land of the Pharaohs

Pass By: Cairo International Airport, Oruba، Road، El Nozha, Cairo Governorate, Egypt
Welcome to Cairo, Egypt (around the clock)

Your tour manager will meet and assist you at Cairo International Airport (Arrival procedures) and will then escort you to your hotel in an air-conditioned deluxe vehicle. At the hotel, your tour manager will assist you with a smooth check-in and review your vacation itinerary with you to establish and confirm pick-up times for each tour. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 2: Pyramids and Sakkara - Train to Aswan

Pass By: Pyramids of Giza, Al Haram Str., Giza 12611 Egypt

Day 3: Aswan Nile Cruise Tours

Upon your arrival at the Aswan train station, you will be met and assisted by a Amwag Tours representative, who will then transfer you to your Nile River cruise ship. Enjoy lunch on board, after which you will be guided to visit the famous High Dam, majestic Philae temple of devotion to the two goddesses Isis and Hathor, and the massive Unfinished Obelisk, still resting on its side in the stone quarries of ancient Egypt. Then, back to the cruise ship with dinner on board and overnight in Aswan.

Day 4: Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples

In the early morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast on board as you sail to Luxor. You’ll then set out to visit the West Bank of Luxor, take an excursion to the Royal Cemetery for 62 Pharaohs, the Valley of the Kings, then to mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built by the architects of the New Kingdom during the 15th century BCE at Deir El-Bahari. You’ll proceed to the towering Colossi of Memnon, and then back to the Nile cruise ship and have lunch aboard. As the ship makes its way up the Nile, you’ll enjoy afternoon tea. Dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor Nile Cruise - Train to Cairo

Breakfast aboard the cruise before disembarkation, and then you will be accompanied by your tour guide to the ancient Karnak and Luxor temples along the east bank of Luxor. Later, you’ll head to the Luxor train station to catch the sleeper train back to Cairo. Dinner will be served aboard the train. Overnight in your private compartment.

Day 7: Cairo sightseeing

Last day in Cairo, you will take breakfast at the Hotel, then be escorted by your Tour Guide to visit the world-renowned Egyptian Museum in Cairo that was built in neo-classical style and designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. The museum’s vast collection of over 120,000 artifacts ranges from pre-dynastic era, through the Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period of Egypt. Amongst the most famous items which you may see are the funerary treasures of the child King Tutankhamun, the colossal statues of the heretic king, Akhenaten, and the only surviving image of Khufu, creator of Egypt’s Great Pyramid. Visiting the museum is a great introduction to learning about the ancient Egyptian civilization, including their famous art of mummification.

Continue on your fascinating tour the Citadel of Saladin overlooking the City from the Muqattam Hills. The views from the walls up high overlook Cairo and are stunning with scenery as far as the Pyramids and overlooking Old Cairo. The magnificent Mohammed Ali Alabaster Mosque inside The Citadel was built in Turkish style and is very similar to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul,Turkey and simply considered to be one of the greatest landmarks in Cairo whose Minarets can be seen from any part of old Cairo. Next will be an unusual opportunity to explore the Christian heritage in Coptic Cairo including some of the early religious monuments of the city such as the Hanging Church (or Suspended Church), this Basilica Church was named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon. This Church became the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt. Afterwards, you will have a wonderful afternoon shopping at the famous old market in Cairo known as Khan El Khalili Bazaar.

then transfer you to attend the Tannoura show which takes place at Wekalet El Ghoury built in 1504 A.D during the reign of Mamelukes. Tannoura show is the most amazing Egyptian Folk musical nights, it’s performed by ‘El Tanoura Troupe for the Cultural Heritage’; which has given varied performances in over 30 countries. At the beginning , Selections of Folkloric music will be played by local Egyptian musicians, previewing The Egypt’s musical heritage. Then comes The Tanoura Dance show and lastly they end it with a very special spiritual Whirling Dervish (Darawish) performing. After the Show ends, you will be transferred to your hotel .
