Archaeological Church of Deir Al-Muharraq
It is the oldest monument in the Muharraq Monastery, its structure is the same as the cave where the Holy Family resided , Its altar is the same stone as the cave on which Jesus Christ sat, the nave was restored in the 19th century.
*Our next stop will be the Holy Virgin Mary Monastery in Doronka mountain
Its historical significance dates back to the famous cave where the Holy Family came ,and this cave was a pharaonic quarry where the Holy Family had to wait for the boats to return.
The monastery is a group of churches, the oldest of which is the cave church. . It is considered a church since the end of the first century. It is worth mentioning that this cave of the monastery dates back to about 2500 thousand five hundred years before the birth.

The old church dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, with 12 dome, three skeletons, and nine nave nodes carried by four pillars. The church has an old veil, a restaurant and a few icons and manuscripts.
Al-Maqrizi mentioned it in the 15th century. The monastery had a monastic life that spread about three centuries ago. The monastery has a farm surrounded by high roles.
