Marimbea Retreat

We will embark in a unique musical journey with a brief introduction of the geographical and cultural origin of this music and a demonstration of some of its rhythms. We will show you how the alluring sounds of each instrument create a beautiful polyrhythmic texture when played together. No musical experience is required as we will explore these rhythms in a fun and accessible collective dynamic. Before long you’ll be playing and singing the traditional songs with us!

We will have the opportunity to visit the beaches of Nuquí, go to the stunning local hot springs, and appreciate the beautiful environment of flora and natural fauna of its tropical jungle. Also you will taste some of the flavors of the Pacific prepared by the expert hands of a chef from the region. The taste of the sea and the sweet earthiness of the viche, a local sugar cane liquor will transport us, along with the music to Pacific Coast, making this a unique multi-sensory experience!

Friday
• 9:30am Arrival to Nuqui
• 10:00am Welcoming. Musical presentation  from local musicians and little introduction to the traditional food, drinks and customs of the region. 
• 11:00am  40 Minute boat ride to the amazing accommodation in a private island, Prana Pacífico hotel. 
• 12:30pm Lunch at island prepared by the expert hands of Prana Pacífico chef among with a local cook. 
• 1:30pm - 3:00pm Free time to enjoy the calm and amazing view of Prana Pacífico.
• 3:00pm First session of Marimbea, we will start with a brief introduction of the instruments and traditional rythms. Then we will start showing you how to play them.
• 6:00pm Enjoy dinner with light sea flavors 

Saturday
• 8:00am Breakfast
• 9:30am Second session of Marimbea. We will continue with our musical journey, you will be playing in group in less than you think. 
• 1:00pm Lunch
• 3:00pm Beach walk to a little cosy village called Termales. There we will enjoy the natural hot springs.
• 6::00pm Night walk in the beach to return to Prana Pacífico. See the sky as you never did!
• 7:00pm Enjoy a delicious light dinner. 

Sunday 
• 8:00am Breakfast
• 9:30am Last session of Marimbea
• 1:30pm lunch in the village
•  3:00pm Jam and concert with the community of Termales. We will perform in group what we learned, then we will have an exiting jam with local musicians and the community of the Village. 
•  Jump to the sea from a dock or just contemplate and outstanding sunset. 
• Dinner back at the property, celebration in Prana Pacífico

• 11:30 Flight from Nuqui-Medellin
