Alternative to Cocora Valley The Origin of Wax Palm

This trip takes you to the ancestrality of the Quindío mountain, telling the story when the natives made their trade or barter. What was initially called the Camino de los Indios, after the Spanish conquest was called the Camino Real, then became the National Road, becoming the driver of new towns and development centers. This day is ideal for travelers and families with little time but who want to see and learn about the rural area of Colombia and see the wax palm in the most natural setting.

Itinerary

Stop At: Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, Eje Cafetero, Manizales Colombia

We will leave Salento at 8.00am in Jeep Willys, the typical transport of the coffee region towards the National Road (link line road, between Salento and the department of Tolima).

During the car ride we will observe the landscapes of the region that used to be dedicated to potato farming. Then we will arrive at the La Carbonera estate, from there we will start a walk between the road of Palmas de Cera Forest our national tree and the uncovered road, in this place we can see the palm in its natural state, a very conserved forest. We will arrive at noon to have a delicious peasant lunch.

After lunch we will start our trip back to Salento, you can choose the way to return:

1) Return to Salento by vehicle, exploring these ancestral roads full of beautiful landscapes.

2) Arrive in Salento on "the National Road", the group walks around 8km full of nature and stories to tell. This day ends at approximately 5 pm in Salento arriving in the middle of the sunset.
