Internet Privacy and UNSEEN HIDDEN ILLEGAL PICS
Spoof sites can contain hundreds of hidden illegal porn images. All you need do is visit one and they're automatically downloaded into your cache. It is even possible that a spoof site could be set up to incriminate a colleague.
FORCED LINKS and DOWNLOADS..
An Internet Privacy Nightmare In UK, a teacher used his school computer to mark his students work submitted by email. One of his students work led him to an external website that requested visitors to bookmark the site. Unkowingly, when he agreed to bookmark the site, the website had "forced" his pc to download a pornographic dialler that took only mere seconds to download unnoticeably. The teachers explanation did not convince the school when this was found, and he lost a good career.

Credit Card Theft Feared Microsoft recently said that a flaw in its Windows operating system could allow hackers to gain unauthorized access to thousands of computers. Microsoft issued a security alert, calling the flaw "critical." The flaw affects at least a dozen Microsoft products, including programs for Windows and the Macintosh... the handling of digital certificates, which are used to certify the authenticity of a Web site or of software code. |
| The flaw could let Web sites with valid certificates issue a second, invalid one, which could enable unauthorized access to a computer as well as, among other things, theft of user passwords or credit card numbers. If you are on a site, they could say, 'Click here to go to eBay' But they don't really take you to eBay. This 'false' site could pretend to be eBay and get you to enter in your credit card numbers. read more.. |

Hackers Accessing Your Company Using PBX Although most companies today have improved security on their data networks, cutting down on white-collar crime and hack attacks, too few have paid enough attention to their PBX system. The PBX remains a potentially huge back door problem for data network security.
|
Many corporates have implemented firewalls as well as stringent anti-virus and content filtering applications to reduce attack and fraud. The PBX, however, remains a significant loophole. All the perimeter security in the world can be bypassed by a poorly configured authorised or unauthorised modem.
Indeed, as a leading communications publication put it: If you want to do real damage to a business or institution, telecom infrastructure is probably a better target than the corporate LAN or Web site. PBX hacking may not sound glamorous by comparison with elite Internet penetrations, but it can be just as damaging. Attacks on PBXs, ACDS, voicemail, voice-response units, and other infrastructure can bring down a company: make it unable to function, expose its secrets, damage its reputation, burden it with telephone charges and the cost of re-provisioning and repair after damage is done. read more.. |

Identity Theft Strikes Twelve Percent of People Nearly one in eight U.S. adults has had their credit card hijacked, identity co-opted or credit rating pockmarked by identity thieves over the past five years, the Federal Trade Commission has said.
|
The crime cost U.S. businesses and consumers some $50 billion last year, but victims are getting better at limiting the damage, the FTC said. Scam artists have used others identities to take out loans and provide an alibi to police for decades, but identity theft has become much more common in recent years.
The consumer-protection agency has tracked identity-theft since 1998, but exact figures have been hard to come by as many victims never report the crime to criminal authorities, opting instead to work with banks or other businesses to clear their names. more..Internet Privacy Headlines
