The Palm Springs Windmill Tours is the only behind the fence tour and endorsed by the Desert Wind Energy Association.   The tour guides give you a full history of the wind turbines starting at the inception in 1982.  The windmills have become an iconic symbol of the Coachella Valley and a major renewable energy source.  There are over 2000 windmills that span over 70 square miles.  The tour has frequent stops and allows you to get up close to the Windmills.  A one of a kind experience.   At the end of the tour we stop for a free date shake at the Windmill Café.

• You'll begin by touring the history of the renewable energy industry, enjoying great pictures of the trials and tribulations of early wind power generation in the Coachella Valley.  Next we head outdoors to discover the various restored exhibits of historical windmills. Then it’s onto a working wind farm, and through various exhibits you will see the latest technology in wind power generation. During your tour you will experience the windmills, solar generation, and natural gas power plants.

You do not have to exit the bus for the walking part of the tours if you do not wish. There is a short walk as you traverse through the exhibits before boarding the bus.
