Craft Breweries of Portland Walking Tour

Our small group Eastside Craft Brewery walking tour takes you to the side of the river where the hotbed of innovation has always been, across from downtown Portland in a neighborhood packed with breweries young and old. We'll head toward the river from our inner Eastside shop into an industrial neighborhood rich with food and art, exploring the past and the present of Portland's craft brewing culture.

Portland was a leader in the craft beer industry, and boasts more breweries than any city; whatever your beer love (sours? Craft barrel-aging? Belgians? Wits? Imperial IPAs? Fresh hops, dry hops, no hops?), there's certainly a brewery that made its name in that style. All of these thrive in this neighborhood, where Around Portland Tours makes its home.

The tour in total is 2-3 miles of walking, with just enough beer tasting so you'll know which stop you'd like to return to. We always keep groups very small, so you'll have an intimate experience with your passionate guides!

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Hair of the Dog Brewing Company, 61 SE Yamhill St, Portland, OR 97214, USA

We'll walk about 3/4 mile through the Central Eastside Industrial District (now home to food manufacturers, local restaurants, distilleries, wineries, coffee roasters and tea makers too!) to Hair of the Dog Brewing, one of the oldest craft breweries in Portland and one of the first on the West Coast to experiment with barrel aging. The experiments continue; every day Hair of the Dog picks a special aged barrel to tap. We'll try one from the wood, as they say, as well as one of the brewery's classic beers. Need a snack? Try the pickle plate, one of the most interesting in the city, or the delicious Brussels sprouts.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Wayfinder Beer, 304 SE 2nd Ave, Portland, OR 97214, USA

Wayfinder Beer is our destination for inventive beer, great hand-cut french fries, and an adventurous, iconic theme; enjoy unusual and outrageously good beers in a beautifully designed industrial space. From honey-infused lagers to true West Coast-style IPAs to coffee browns, Wayfinder's beers are the best example of their style every category. What's more, on most beautiful days, we get to check out the view across to the west side of Portland from Wayfinder's pretty front deck. We'll sample a few beers here, too.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Base Camp Brewing Company, 930 SE Oak St, Portland, OR 97214, USA

Beer comes with a side of adventure at Base Camp! Most of the staff here finds their free time filled with climbing, hiking, and mountaineering fun, leading to the adventurous name. We'll taste a few sample brews here, and we'll try to talk you into trying the S'mores Stout (maybe along with a stylish saison to even things out).
