Explore Secrets of Sak Yant (Tattoo included)

If you travel in Thailand, you will find one thing particularly fascinating--exotic, fine-lined black-ink tattoos, whether emblazoned across a kickboxer’s chest or a bare shoulder of a woman on a scooter.

All these intricate designs belong to the spiritual Sak Yan tattoo tradition. As one of the disciples of Ajarn Kawi, I have spent more than 10 years doing research about this authentic culture of Thailand, and hope that this experience could let more people know the true nature of Sak Yant.

Itinerary

We will visit a well-known village where Arjan(Master) Tu lives. It's gonna be 45-min drive away from the of city. Before we drive to Arjan's place, we will drop by local riverside market to buy multiple offerings for the sacred tattoo ceremony and some local snacks. Different cultural and religious belief and stories behind each offering will be explained.

During this experience, we will let you know religious traditions (Animism, Buddhism, Brahmanism), up and downs of the development behind Sak Yant. In the eyes of people in Southeast Asia, different Sak Yant designs have different functions which protect you against bad lucks and bring good fortunes.

Arjan Tu is a highly respected Sak yant master who has numerous disciples in Thailand, Burma, Malaysia and Cambodia. He will give you in-depth suggestions about the Sak Yan designs that suit you the most based on your demands.

You will get a 8cm*10cm size Yantra tattoo(from one of two desiganted patterns) and Sak Yant blessing from Arjarn. After the visit, we will go back to Nimman area to have a simple dinner for noodle.
