Stop At: Wepathana - Gomagoda Road, Wepathana - Gomagoda Rd, Digana, Sri Lanka

You will be starting your tour around 8:30am from your hotel in Kandy. The chauffeur guide will pick you up and take you on a scenic drive to the village. Once you get there one of the villagers will meet you and take you around the village. You will be able to converse with some of the villagers and learn about their lifestyle.

They will then take you to the fields of their crops, the palm estates and their fruit orchards so that you can see how they plant and harvest their crops. The locals in the area traditionally grow spices such as Cocoa, Pepper, Cloves, Nutmeg and Vanilla; in addition to their other fruits and vegetables. So you will also be able to find good deals on spices here. Jaggery, the delicious natural sweetener used by the villagers, is made from the Kithul palm tree; and you will be able to watch the process.

At approximately 10am, you will be leaving for the river banks. The villagers bathe and wash their clothes along the banks. You will be able to wet your feet, or even take a dip if you bring a towel and change of clothes. There is also a rocky natural pool that you can swim in and splash about.

After spending some time at the river, you will be going on the last leg of the tour; the hike to the waterfall. This newest addition to the tour can be quite challenging for children, and they have to be supervised at all times. You will be traveling over rough, slippery and occasionally steep terrain as you take the trail to the waterfall; which is hidden deep within the jungle near the village. After hiking for about a kilometer, you will find yourself at the attractively gushing falls. The guide will advise you not to get too close unless it is from a safe area that he knows of. Please follow this advice for safety purposes. You will spend approximately half an hour enjoying the sight and fresh spray of the waterfall. You will then move back to the village and be introduced to a local family, who will give you a half hour cooking demonstration on traditional Sri Lankan cooking. The demonstration will also allow you to make your own attempt at cooking a Sri Lankan dish.

You will be having lunch right after at 12:15pm. Lunch will be a buffet of perfectly cooked rice with 6 traditionally cooked Sri Lankan curries and fresh fried fish. You will also have a green salad and crunchy papadum, practically an essential addition for meals in most Sri Lankan and Indian homes

After the rather relaxing meal, you can spend some time in the village at your ease and drive back to your hotel

Your tour will come to an end at 1:30pm when you're dropped off back in Kandy.
