Kandy City Tour From Colombo 2 Days

This private city tour comes with an air conditioned vehicle with a friendly travel mate who will explain and guide you through out the tour. You will be picked up from your hotel in Colombo/Air-Port and will be safely brought into Kandy. While on your tour you will stop by Kadugannawa for you to capture some photos and visit Geragama active tea factory on an educational tour. On day 2 you will be taken on your city tour and you have the option of customizing the priorities of the order of attractions by discussing with your travel mate. However, certain places like cultural show and royal palace will demand you to be there during the stipulated time.

Itinerary

Day 1: Air port to Kandy

Stop At: Kadugannawa, Kadugannawa, Kandy District, Central Province
You may do sightseeing of the most famous and beautiful Kadugannawa mountain where you can capture some panoramic views and do some shopping at small village shops on the road side.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Geragama Tea Factory, Geragama Estate Rd, Pilimathalawa, Sri Lanka
You will be taken to Geragama tea factory for an educational visit which is a working tea factory dating from 1903, in a lovely location. At the end you may enjoy a free cup of tea with Jaggery

Day 2: Kandy City Tour

Stop At: Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy 20000, Sri Lanka
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. You will see and worship the sacred tooth relic with the ancient architecture of the king's palace with the museum while walking through the premises.

Stop At: Royal Palace of Kandy, Sri Dalada Veediya Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
The Royal Palace of Kandy (Maligawa) in Kandy, was the royal residence of the Sinhalese monarchy of the Kingdom of Kandy in Sri Lanka. The last king to reside in it was King Sri Vikrama Rajasinha until he was overthrown by the British in 1815 with the aid of Kandian chieftains. Once part of a large palace complex that included the King’s Palace (Raja Wasala), Royal Audience Hall (Magul Maduwa), Queen’s Palace (Meda Wasala), King’s Harem Quarters (Palle Vahale) and Queen’s Bathing Pavilion (Ulpange), together with the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) that held the Relic of the tooth of the Buddha. By ancient tradition the one who was in possession of the Tooth Relic had claim to the throne. The palace is located adjacent to the Temple of the Tooth and closes at 4.00 PM.

Stop At: Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya Road, Peradeniya 20400 Sri Lanka
Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya is about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Her barium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres

Bahirawakanda is a village in the centre of the Kandy , Sri Lanka where a buddha statue is built on top of a peak which can be seen
even from the city. It is one of the most tourist attracting places in the city.

Stop At: Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show, 7 Sangamitta Mawatha, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka, a country with a rich culture & traditions, offer a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dances in the form of Kandy cultural show. A dance from "Salupliya" depicting several demons, "Thelme" vibrant expression of low country rhythm, Fire and Harvest dances accompanied by Ceremonial Drums and the Drum Orchestra rising and falling to the lively tempo. As many as 12 different folk and traditional dances are performed by the Kandy lake club dance troop within an hour. The highlight of the show is definitely the fire walking show, where the artists walk through a specially prepared fire pit (an 8 by 3 feet covered with red-hot charcoal) completely barefoot and emerges unharmed at the other end! The official brochure by Kandy cultural show describes the fire walking as having its roots in the Valmiki's epic of "Ramayana", where the king of Lanka the great Ravana abducts "Sita" the wife of Indian prince Rama and after regaining her in an epic battle with Ravana, she was made to prove her chastity by walking through fire barefoot, though the current devotees who perform fire walking in Sri Lanka seek the divine blessings of the Lord Karthekeyan & goddess Pathini. Kandy cultural show is a great way to spend the evening in Kandy, arrive a little early to secure the front row center seats and the Bar attached to the hall will undoubtedly raise your spirits while you wait for the show.

You will climb the hill by Kandy Lake to reach Kandy view point and receive a view of the city that cannot be beaten.

Stop At: Kandy City Center, Kand, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
"Kandy City Centre" Commercial and Shopping Complex at Dalada Veediya, Kandy is the most modern commercial complex in Sri Lanka. The Complex is designed with ultra modern features yet preserving the iconic Kandyan architecture. Several leading banks, a fully equipped supermarket, a variety of restaurants, an entertainment zone, a well designed state of the art food court will also feature in the Complex.

Kandy lake , also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of the hill city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. Over the years, it was reduced in size. It is a protected lake, with fishing banned.
