This is a Guided Tour and you will have the opportunity to discover Sri Lanka as a Local would. See elephants, visit ancient monasteries, temples and go on interesting walking tours with our local experts. Enjoy the amenities of hotels with swimming pools, spas, pubs and gaming rooms to wind down when not on tour. This tour is ideal for friends, couples, families and small groups.

Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo - Pinnawala - Dambulla

Stop At: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, B199, Pinnawala 71100 Sri Lanka
See elephants feeding and bathing. Elephant rides are optional and at an extra cost
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Dambulla Cave Temple, Jaffna Hwy, Habarana 50150 Sri Lanka
This is a guided tour to climb to the cave temple, see the Buddhist art and take pictures of the surrounding countryside
Duration: 2 hours

Meals included:
• Dinner
Accommodation included: Have a swim at the pool, or relax on the sundeck at your hotel

Day 2: Dambulla - Polonnaruwa - Dambulla

Stop At: Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka
Option of visiting the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Minneriya National Park, Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway, 50150 Sri Lanka
You will be taken on a guided tour of the national park by jeep. There is an abundance of wildlife and especially elephants where we hope you could see the annual 'Gathering'.

Day 3: Dambulla - Kandy

Stop At: Nalanda Gedige, Matale 21152 Sri Lanka
Visit the ancient stone temple which was constructed between the 8th and 10th centuries with Dravidian architecture
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Aluvihara Rock Cave Temple, Matale, Aluvihara Aluvihara Junction, Matale Rd, Matale 21000 Sri Lanka
Dating from the 3rd century BC, this temple is the historic location from which the Pāli Canon (the collection of scriptures in the Theravada Buddhist tradition) was first written down completely in text

Stop At: Kandy City Center, Kand, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
The KCC is our point of origin for the guided walking tour of Kandy. Yo have the option of grabbing some refreshments / lunch (at your cost) from the food court. The walking tour typically takes 3 hours

Stop At: Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show, 7 Sangamitta Mawatha, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
With elaborate costumes, gyrating dance moves and show-stopping, fire-breathing stunts, a Kandyan dance performance is one of the defining experiences of a stay in Kandy

Day 4: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

You will walk through the gardens as your Guide explains about the 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees that are found here
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, Wevandon Hills, Ramboda 20590 Sri Lanka
A popular Hindu temple, it is associated with the Ramayana chronicle and a must visit site
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ramboda Waterfall, Pussellawa Sri Lanka
Measuring 109m in height, it is the 11th highest water fall in Sri Lanka. A view point by the side of the road allows us to take a few nice photographs
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Victoria Park of Nuwara Eliya, A5, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
A brief visit to the park before we begin our guided walking tour of Nuwara Eliya
Duration: 2 hours

Accommodation included: Head to the pub for a pint of lager (with our compliments - for adults only) before heading for dinner.

Day 5: Day trip to Haputale

Stop At: Sita Temple, Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
Located in Seetha Eliya, this temple is an important milestone in the Ramayana chronicle and of interest to every visitors as your guide tells you the legends and their relevance to Sri Lanka

Stop At: St Benedict's Monastery - Adisham, Haputale Sri Lanka
Adisham Bungalow is a country house built by British aristocrat Sir Thomas Villiers,a descendant of the Dukes of Bedford. At present it houses the Benedictine monastery. You could visit the chapel, walk through the gardens or buy jams and sauces (made by the monks) to take back home as souvenirs

Stop At: Lipton’s Seat, Haputale 90160 Sri Lanka
Located within the Dambathenne tea plantation, the 'seat' is a panoramic view point from which Sir Thomas Lipton, the Ceylon tea baron, watched over his tea gardens. An ideal location for photographs

Visit the tea factory for a guided tour
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Dhowa Rock Temple, Badulla Road 6 km from Bandarawela towards Ella, Bandarawela 90100 Sri Lanka
Dating back to the 1st century BC, Dhowa is a small, ancient village. The passing of time is best considered by the location of the temple, where its highest point, an unfinished standing Buddha carved into the sheer rock face, has its upper edge by the side of the present motorway. A guided tour of the temple and its history await visitors

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya - Colombo

One of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka, this stop is good for picturesque photographs
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Devon Falls, Talawakele, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
Ranked the 19th highest in Sri Lanka, it is so named for a pioneer colonial coffee planter named Devon. Another picture moment
Duration: 25 minutes

Stop At: Beddegana Wetland Park, 139 Rampart Rd Jayawardenapura Kotte, Sri Jayawardenepura Sri Lanka
Artistic landscaping and natural surroundings blend perfectly to provide an unforgettable experience to the visitor. Identification of butterflies and dragonflies is facilitated by information boards along the trail. Observation decks are perfect for bird watching.
