A unique immersive tour with three distinct experiences. You will experience a very personalized tour of Galle Fort with a 5th generation of the Fort, with inside access to all nooks and crannies of this historic site and its hidden histories. You will also learn about the way of life for this multi religious community living in the fort and its vibrant micro economy. The toddy tasting experience is hosted by an agriculture expert, and you will taste this unique beverage in different forms including creative cocktails and paired with local snacks. The mask painting experience is hosted by a skilled artisan in his workshop where you will learn about the history of these traditional masks and how to colorfully bring one to life using natural colors and paints, and which will be a lasting souvenir for you to take back home along with the rich memories of this experience.

Itinerary

A very personalized tour focusing around the historic Galle Fort. Upon pick up your chauffeur will take you to the fort where you will meet up with your host for the guided tour. A 5th Generation resident from inside the fort itself your host will navigate you through the fort’s charming alleyways at a leisurely pace, a fascinating blend of local design traditions and European colonial influence become evident in the architectural style of its many interesting structures. By evening you will be escorted to your next activity, a curated toddy tasting experience. Enjoy an evening of toddy tasting hosted by a local agriculture expert. Taste the various toddy cocktails over local snacks and learn the traditions and history about the toddy tappers. Afterwards return to your hotel for your overnight stay. Next morning head to for an immersive art-based experience around the livelihood of a local artisan. His work is an act of cultural preservation as much as it is an art form, for it involves the ancient medium of ‘Kolam’ masks native to the coastal south. The artisan guides you through the steps involved in producing one of these colorful masks which you can take back as a souvenir.
