Tour of the Velillos River Bridges and Rock Paintings in Granada

This is one of the most beautiful tours we can do near Granada.
Known as Ruta del Gollizno is a circular tour of great environmental value, passing through enclaves of the highest historical importance around the village of Moclín and Los Olivares.
In it there are several points with incredible views of Sierra Nevada.
You will be able to discover from places where the Neolithic man left his mark, to places where Civil War events took place, approaching the border crossing between the Caliphate of Cordoba and the Nazari Empire.
The route is about 10 kilometers long and travels in just over 3 hours. Always under the watchful watch of the castle of Moclín.

During the tour you can appreciate the beauty of the landscape from its four viewpoints, cross the river Velillos by the suspension bridge and pedestrian walkway recently restored, visit the rock paintings near the Corcuela Fountain, or see the incomparable historical heritage of Moclín, reflection its strategic location and the importance of this area in the past, where they are protagonists, the Castle of Moclín, one of the best defensive structures of the Nazari period and the Watchtowers, strategically scattered in the highest points around the Castle.

A steep slope, through the mountain range and between pine forests, will take us to Los Olivares. In the descent towards the village the whole valley of the river Velillos will appear among a sea of olive trees.
