For a cup of coffee while gazing out at the blue ocean, head to Anmok Beach. Once a street with a single vending machine, Gangneung Coffee Street is now lined with coffee shops that formed over the years. From individually operated local shops to chain cafés, visitors have a vast pool to choose from. Buy your coffee and take a moment to enjoy the harmony of the energizing drink and the calming view of the waves crashing to the shore.

Gangneung Terarosa is the headquarters and the first shop opened in 2002. It began its business only as a roasting factory to supply cafés and hotels with coffee, and with increasing visitors who wanted to taste its coffee, ​it was expanded by opening cafés later.

Opening its 10th shop in Busan recently, Terarosa has grown as a high quality coffee brand in Korea in 16 years.

Although it has a small number of shops, with the great taste of coffee and beauty of interior, ​it became one of the top Korean coffee brands.

Gangwon-do’s representative traditional market, Jungang Market opened in 1980 as a permanent market. The market is divided into two main parts; one is a traditional market and the other is an underground fishery market. The second floor has a restaurant and coffee shops. Vendors display their products along the street, providing a typical scene of a traditional market and an opportunity to learn about the life of people in Gangneung.

When Koreans hear “Gyeongpodae,” their first thought is most often of the beach. In fact, the beach’s name actually comes from Gyeongpodae Pavilion that was built during the Goryeo Dynasty. The panoramic view of Gyeongpoho Lake seen from Gyeongpodae Pavilion is simply amazing. Gyeongpodae Pavilion is beautiful year-round but is most popular as a sunrise watching location on January 1 and in April, during the Gyeongpodae Cherry Blossom Festival.

When you talk about coffee in Gangneung, you can not miss Mr. Park. Mr. Park,One of the first generations of coffee in Korea is one of the three patrons who spread roasting coffee when instant coffee was popular.

Mr. Park, Korean residents in Japan, came to Korea to do dairy business. However, the situation was not good, so he studied coffee in Japan and started to make coffee in Korea. His coffee is a Japanese style coffee with a strong flavor of beans.
