Itinerary

The only inland salt pans in Portugal!

The Salinas are about 3 km from Rio Maior and fit into a typhoon valley at the foot of Serra dos Candeeiros. Surrounded by groves and farmland are considered a wonder of nature, as the sea is 30 km away.

The whole presents itself as a tiny village of stone streets and wooden houses, next to which stand out curious tanks of irregular shapes and dimensions, which from spring are filled with salt water giving rise to white salt pyramids.

The natural question for those visiting the place is to know how, unexpectedly about 30 km from the sea and hidden by the surrounding slopes, the Salinas emerge.
