The beach of Guincho is, along with that of Carcavelos, the largest in the municipality of Cascais. It is located on Estrada do Guincho, which follows the coast line from the village of Cascais and connects to the municipality of Sintra.

Situated in a dune area and very exposed to the north winds, the Guincho is world famous as a beach for water sports, such as windsurfing. The temperamental sea can offer some risks to the bathers mainly because of the currents and the strong winds that often are felt also are unpleasant. But in ideal conditions, Guincho is one of the most pleasant beaches in the region.
