The National Sanctuary of Christ the King stands at an altitude of 133 meters above the level of the Tagus, consisting of a portico designed by the architect Antonio Lino, 75 meters high, topped by the statue of the Holy Redeemer with open arms facing the city of Lisbon, 28 meters high, by the Portuguese sculptor Francisco Franco de Sousa. The pedestal, including the portico, rises to 82 meters in height. The sanctuary and monument to Cristo Rei is the biggest tourist attraction in the municipality of Almada.

This monument is the best viewpoint overlooking the city of Lisbon, offering a wide view of the capital and the 25 de Abril Bridge. In numerous tourist reports about Lisbon the sanctuary and monument to Christ the King, ex-libbris of Almada appears. It is one of the tallest buildings in Portugal, 110 meters high.

The Cape Espichel Lighthouse - which once received other denominations such as Cape Barbárico, Cape of Good Hope, Promontium Luminoso or Santa Maria - is one of the oldest in the country.

The first building erected on the initiative of the pilgrims who passed there was the Hermitage of Memory, a small, fifteenth-century temple with a simple and harmonious rectangular plan. Inside the Ermida there are panels of tiles that depict a bit of legend and clearly show the footprints that are now known to be sauropod dinosaurs.
