Venture on this incredible trip to the citadel of Machu Picchu, enjoy the most beautiful scenery and the experience of traveling the Inca roads.

Itinerary

Day 1: From Cusco to Amaru

Stop At: Cusco 08007, Peru
Departing from Cusco we will take you by van to the city of Pisaq, set in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. There we will explore the Pisaq market, one of the most renowned and biggest markets, here we will start our adventure and head up to the ruins of Pisaq, where we will explore its terraces, aqueduct and the Intihuatana. After visiting the ruins, and enjoying lunch, we will continue hiking towards the Andean community of Amaru, along the way, we will enjoy the landscape and solitude, since we will be crossing almost virgin territory. Once arrival to the community, we will get settled in and then take part in some activities with the locals, who will show us their way of life and customs. They will also explain about some traditional meals, which we will all share together. We will spend the night here, hosted by families of the community.

Day 2: Amaru to Huayllafara

Stop At: Amaru Village, 1, 08105, Peru
After breakfast, we will hit the road again, you will learn about local traditions and sets of beliefs, many dating from Incan times. Your guide will also explain about the local crops, their benefits, and characteristics. After spending some time with our hosts, we will start our adventure going through the amazing mountains and enjoying the beautiful landscape, Today the trekking is moderate going from 3600 meters to 4200 meters at the highest point where we will have lunch next to an impressive lake. After lunch, we will go all the way down to Huayllafara community located at 3,400 meters. Once we reach Huayllafara, we will be greeted by the members and share an Andean homemade dinner

Day 3: Huayllafara to Machu Picchu

Stop At: Machu Picchu, 08680, Peru
Today we will start early as usual in the Andes, our temporary family will share with us a local breakfast, after that, our driver will pick us up from Huayllafara and drive us to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Once arrival to KM104, you will have time to prepare for the trek and to have a light snack. Your trek starts from here, (altitude of 2100m, 6900ft) where you will trek uphill for approximately 4 hours to WiñayWayna (altitude of 2700m, 8850ft). Once arrival to Wiñay Wayna, you will enjoy a box lunch before making your way to the spectacular Sun Gate ‘IntiPunku’ (2730m/8792ft), where you will have a breathtaking view overlooking Machu Picchu, ‘The Lost City of the Incas’ and the beautiful surrounding mountains, including Wayna Picchu. We will then walk through the ruins of Machu Picchu, allowing you to spend time exploring the historical site. We will finish the day in the town of Aguas Calientes with a delicious dinner at a quality local restaurant.

Day 4: Train from Machu Picchu to Cusco

Stop At: Cusco 08007, Peru
Today, you will have the morning to spend at your own. You will have the opportunity to revisit Machu Picchu (entrance and bus tickets included) to enjoy the many short trekking options or venture the famous mountain climb to the summit of Wayna Picchu, which can be scheduled at either 7 am or 10 am. However, there is a limit on the number of people who can climb each day so you will need to book it with us in advance. If you do not want to revisit Machu Picchu, you might want to take a walk through the crooked alleys of Aguas Calientes and observe the life of the people in this truly touristy place or take a bath in the hot springs of the place. After lunch, you will board the scenic train back to Ollantaytambo. Once arrival to the train station, we will pick you up and transfer you to Cusco by private van.
