Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: Arrive in Vilnius

Stop At: Vilnius Old Town, Vilnius 01129 Lithuania
Individual arrival to Vilnius. Welcome and private transfer to your centrally located hotel. Check-in and time at leisure to get acquainted with the Lithuanian capital. To get the most of this vibrant baroque jewel, arrive a day earlier. This evening, join our Welcome Reception, hosted by our experienced tour conductor, featuring:
- Journey introduction, Q&A over a welcome drink.
- Orientation walk in Vilnius, a baroque city with a student vibe and 48 churches.
- Three-course welcome dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2: Explore the highlights of Vilnius & optional tour to Trakai

Stop At: Vilnius Old Town, Vilnius 01129 Lithuania
Start your morning with a guided walking tour of the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Vilnius, wandering on cobblestoned streets of this medieval city. The tour features the most iconic sights of the city:
- Neoclassical Cathedral with stunning St. Casimir’s baroque chapel.
- Old University with its 13 courtyards, wall paintings and St. John’s church.
- Bernardine Gardens and St. Anne’s Church.
- Bohemian Republic of Uzupis.
- Jewish Quarter and Town Hall.
- Gates of Dawn and City Walls.
- Visit the historic market hall to taste local produce.

In the afternoon, join us for the optional tour to Trakai, taking a local train. Enjoy a light hike along the picturesque lake and visit the stunning red brick island castle in Trakai. Some free time on the lakeside to enjoy snacks, drinks and discover old wooden houses and early evening return to Vilnius. Weather permitting, fly the hot air balloon over the city’s red roofs and green parks.

Day 3: Train across the country to the Baltic Coast and ferry onto the Curonian Spit

Stop At: Curonian Spit / Kursiu Nerija National Park, 98 Km Peninsula, Klaipeda - Lesnoye Visitor’s Centre - Smiltynes st., 11, Klaipeda 93100 Lithuania
Early in the morning, board the intercity train for a cross-country rail journey to Klaipeda, Lithuania’s busy seaport. A short ferry ride will take you on the Curonian Spit, a World Heritage Site. This narrow stretch of sand is washed by the waves of the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. In a typical fishing village of Juodkrante enjoy a local lunch, featuring some locally caught and freshly smoked fish, among other specialities. The afternoon is dedicated to the exploration of the sandy peninsula:
- Walk the mysterious Hill of Witches forest trail, dotted with wooden sculptures of witches and devils.
- Visit the quaint town of Nida with its idyllic shoreline and colourful fishermen houses.
- Climb the Parnidis Dune for a breathtaking panoramic view of the dunes and the surrounding seas.
- Get acquainted with the Baltic gem - amber - in a family-owned gallery.

Return to the mainland to explore Klaipeda on a guided walk, visiting the river embankment, the old castle site, the picturesque old town with Theatre Square and Friedrich Strip. Tonight’s hosted dinner is aboard the famous schooner Meridianas, a historic tall ship.

Day 4: Curonian Coast and Local Train to Riga

Stop At: Skede Dunes Memorial, Libiesu Iela 37/53, Liepaja 3430 Latvia
A whole day to discover the unspoilt Curonian Coast with its nature, villages and ports. Begin with Palanga, a vibrant seaside resort, famous for its scenic park and pier. In the comfort of our private van, travel North to enter Latvia and its beautiful coastal town of Liepaja, famous for wooden architecture and military heritage. The highlights include:
- Panoramic Liepaja sightseeing tour and old town walk.
- Lunch in a local restaurant.
- Visit Holy Trinity Church to see one of the world’s largest mechanical organs.
- Karosta Military District with its eclectic architecture and a prison visit.
- Have a moment of silence at the Skede Dunes Holocaust Memorial.

In the evening, board the local express train to Riga. The typical train, built in Riga in the 1980s, showcases a traditional way of intercity travel for Latvians. Upon arrival in Riga, check-in to your centrally located hotel for dinner and overnight.

Discover the highlights of Riga, the Baltic Metropolis, on a guided walking tour, wandering through the UNESCO-protected Old Town, famous for its medieval architecture with Hanseatic influences:

- Iconic House of Blackheads, a phoenix of Riga.
- The Castle and the Three Brothers and many more hidden gems. Walking along the picturesque canal, reach the Art Nouveau district, the world’s largest open-air museum of ornate facades.

Take the local streetcar to Riga Central Market, Europe’s premier grocery market, located in five former zeppelin hangars. Continue to Agenskalns to explore city’s decadent wooden architecture and creative locals that have converted many decaying buildings into trendy local hotspots. Day 6: Riga to Tallinn via Gauja National Park

Stop At: Gauja National Park, Ausekla iela 6, 2150 Latvia
Leave Riga to explore the scenic Gauja National Park., locally nicknamed as ‘Switzerland of Latvia’. Visit the idyllic town of Sigulda with its impressive castle ruins, bobsleigh track and breathtaking view of the green valley. Take the aerial tramway to cross the valley for a light forest hike, reaching the legendary Gutman cave. Around lunchtime, board the vintage, Latvian-made intercity train to reach the Estonian border (locally sourced lunch box provided) for an easy same-platform transfer onboard the modern intercity Tallinn-bound train. Upon arrival, enjoy the Singing Revolution tour, stopping in Pirita Olympic Harbour to talk about the boycotted Moscow Olympics, pass the ‘unfinished bridge to Helsinki’, discovering the unique Forest Cemetery, visiting the famous Song Festival Grounds, where a crowd of 300 000 people started the Singing Revolution. Transfer to your centrally located hotel, dinner and evening at leisure.

Day 7: Explore the highlights of Tallinn

This morning get to know Tallinn’s highlights during a guided walking tour, featuring:
- Toompea Fortress.
- Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral.
- Dome Church, noble palaces, narrow streets, and scenic lookouts.

Enjoy a coffee break in the city’s oldest cafe, tasting their handcrafted marzipan. In the afternoon, explore Tallinn on your own. We suggest a walk in the beautiful Kadriorg Park, visiting the baroque palace built by Peter the Great or the fascinating Estonian Art Museum.

Alternatively, join us of the signature ‘hidden gems’ tour of Tallinn to get that ‘behind the scenes’ feel of the city, blending medieval charm, modern urban spaces and with local experiences. You will see some remarkable monuments, wander on off-the-beaten-track streets, climb up the city wall and visit lesser-known areas including a grocery market, creative urban hubs and places where locals hang out. Visit the iconic Seaplane Harbor, a maritime museum overlooking the Gulf of Finland, featuring a historical submarine and an icebreaker. Coffee & pastry included!
