You will be taken to the city’s most beautiful places, guided by a local English-speaking professional photographer. During the tour I will capture your magical moments in Kanazawa, leaving you free to take in the sights without worrying about the best angles and light, or asking a stranger to take your picture! I am experienced in portrait and travel street photography, and my work has been published in many magazines, guidebooks including Lonely Planet and the city guides of tourism boards. Stop At: Higashichaya Old Town, 1 Higashiyama, Kanazawa 920-0831 Ishikawa Prefecture

Chaya is a traditional place of feasts and entertainment, where Japan’s famous geishas have been entertaining people through dances and playing traditional musical instruments since the Edo period. Higashiyama is the biggest chaya district in Kanazawa, and provides the opportunity for a glimpse into Japan’s rich cultural past. Visit Shima Geisha house built in 1820. We will have a photo shoot session in the area.

Stop At: Shima, 1-13-21 Higashiyama, Kanazawa 920-0831 Ishikawa Prefecture

Shima Geisha house is a historical geisha house in the Higashi Chaya teahouse district of Kanazawa. The building is now a museum and gives visitors a look at the life of the geisha who once entertained here.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Nagamachi Neighborhood, 3 Nagamachi, Kanazawa Ishikawa Prefecture

Nagamachi was a samurai district located at the foot of the former Kanazawa Castle, where samurai and their families resided. The area preserves a historic atmosphere with its remaining samurai residences, earthen walls, private entrance gates, narrow lanes and water canals.

Stop At: Nomura Family Samurai House, 1-3-32 Nagamachi, Kanazawa Ishikawa Prefecture

Nomura Samurai house is the main attraction of Nagamachi district, a restored samurai residence displaying the lifestyle and artifacts of the era when samurai were prosperous.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Omicho Market, 50 Kamiomicho, Kanazawa 920-0905 Ishikawa Prefecture

Step into the shoes of Kanazawa locals with a visit to Kanazawa’s largest fresh food market, where we will have delicious lunch. (several options, at own expense)

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Old Residence of Doctor Takamine Jokichi, 11-20 Musashimachi, Kanazawa 920-0855 Ishikawa Prefecture

Old Takamineke house is a historical house formerly owned by Jokichi Takamine in 19th century. Jokichi Takamine was a well-known scientist famous for his discovery of adrenalin, and made fortune in the United States. This house is often used for Kimono photography and private tea ceremonies known as Chado, Sado, or Chanoyu. Great location for photo shoot session.

Stop At: Oyama Shrine, 11-1 Oyama-machi, Kanazawa 920-0918 Ishikawa Prefecture

The Oyama shrine was established in 1599 with 25 meter high Dutch stained glass tower gate. Icon of the old city Kanazawa

Pass By: Gyokusen-immaru Garden, 3 Marunouchi, Kanazawa 920-0937 Ishikawa Prefecture

Peaceful Japanese garden with a traditional Japanese wooden bridge. Stroll around the garden on the way to Kanazawa castel.

Stop At: Kanazawa Castle, 1-1 Marunouchi, Kanazawa 920-0937 Ishikawa Prefecture

Kanazawa Castle was the seat of the Maeda Clan’s power over the Kaga Domain in Edo period Japan. The castle's thick outer walls still stand ranked and angled like a massive ziggurat, Visit to my favourite part of the castle – Ishikawamon Gate – to round out your visit. Great spot for photo shoot session.

Stop At: Kenrokuen Garden, 1-1 Marunouchi, Kanazawa 920-0937 Ishikawa Prefecture

Kenrokuen is justifiably classified as one of Japan's ‘three most beautiful landscape gardens’. The spacious grounds used to be the outer garden of Kanazawa Castle, constructed by the ruling Maeda family over a period of nearly two centuries. Opened to the public in 1871, Kenrokuen features a variety of flowering trees which provide the garden with different aspects and features depending on the season. My personal favourite is Spring, but No matter what time of year, you won’t want to miss a visit to this magnificent, quintessential Japanese garden. You cannot miss a photo session here. It is a must do!
