Vignavecchia Summer is one of the most traditional producers of Chianti Classico. Beccari family since 1840. It was received as a dowry when Antonietta Minucci - whose family owned the vineyards since the 17th century - married Giuseppe Beccari. Back from his journeys, Odoardo Beccari retired himself to his family's properties; he turned himself into an enologist and started to collect the best vintage wines produced in his vineyards. The summer private wine collection includes bottles dating from 1876 to 1931. Odoardo Beccari was a Florentine explorer, zoologist and botanist. He studied botany in Kew Gardens in London where he met Charles Darwin and Sir James Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak. He explored many areas in Borneo, Celebes, New Guinea, Sumatra, the Moluccas, Australia and Tasmania returning to Italy. Amongst his most important studies we mention Tulipa Beccariana, Amorphophallus Titanum, Rafflesia Tuan-Mudae and Casuario Beccarii.
