In Italy, among the most important quiescent volcanoes, we mention in particular the Vesuvius, both because of this there are testimonies, still visible today, of a great eruption (many tourists go to visit the places of Pompeii and Herculaneum, near Naples every year , destroyed by this volcano) and because its summit is very particular. The history of Vesuvius dates back to 35,000 years ago, when eruptions alternated with long periods of inactivity. The last eruption occurred in 1944, but the most famous was that of 79 AD, which buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
